I thought your theory was that there was a wealthier collector waiting in the wings for every 'regular' collector that leaves/passes? .

What!? That was never my theory. You have me confused with someone else there. I think it was actually Darklord Dave.

That theory only works as a pyramid -- the cheaper a figure is, the broader the demand, and its reverse.

i'd love to see a photo of that collection!

As for this, what do people think the QC is going to be like? is anyone worried about the suit?

Unfortunately all packed away and being stored... :( I had to sell my house and move so I'm temporarily living with family until I find a new house... 30+ years of collecting in storage!! :gah:

Collecting is a pyramid scheme? I knew it...

But seriously, are high end figures becoming the modern day equivalent of collecting comics in the early 90's - is this a bubble that's going to burst?

i was in that bubble, so many McFarlane spideys dropped in value

This darth Vader looks awesome

Only if you collect to sell for loads of money. Always a bad idea to collect anything with.

The issue with the dome is that the dome isn't round. It's oval. The crown part of the dome is egg shaped with the wider end towards the rear, and the dome skirt is round at the back, but then becomes fairly straight down the sides.

(Sure, this is an ESB dome, but the overall shape of the ANH isn't that much different)

The Secret Lair video is cool. Just wondering why they have the lower left (right when looking at it) eyesocket on the upper cheek gunmetal. That whole area should be black, as well as the lower and upper inner eye sockets, with the edge in towards the nose being gunmetal, on both sides + the front edge of the upper eyebrow should also be black on the ANH.

Do like how they did some light gunmetal weathering by drybrushing some of the black areas lightly on the face mask. That looked cool.

Video just goes to show that it isn't "bad pics" or lens distortion, or bad lighting or weird perspective as to why this thing looks like it does. He's a tall, goofy looking mother. It's the same fig we've been seeing for weeks and the same fig in the heavily doctored specs pics.

Will be good for a few scrap parts though in the ever lasting quest for the perfect Vader. May MMS 279 parts fulfill a higher meaning.

Meh.

I just wanted to make sure and cover all three bases.

DiFab, how does this compare to HT's Batman efforts in your opinion? ;)

I totally understand the desire for absolute accuracy. But wow, on the other side of the coin, if my Vader face-mask looked that asymmetrical and bent out of shape, I think it would bother me....

Precisely.

I don't want a bent out of shape Vader, accurate or not, that looks goofy. Obviously, it was not Lucas' or any costume designer's intent to make Vader's armor look cobbled together. I'm okay with the calls for a bigger chest box and and shorter height, but trying to make it look off-kilter and beat up. . . that's not gonna fly.

Darth vader had been at war. That's exactly what i loved from ANH. In empire he was a true lord. Shiney and all.

Yeah if was that way people would complain about that too. People would complain about him looking like he had a stroke.

Before this thread existed, I've never heard anyone say what they love about Darth Vader is how beat up his armor looks.
