Yeah, sucks when I found the tip of the left horn broken. I went through a third party to have it replaced and cost be a bit because I only opened it after 4 months! Imagine my luck...

You could normally buy the parts of the normal RAH figures from medicom by using the parts list that comes in the box but for these Premium RAH figures, you can only do a 1 to 1 exchange. That sucks!

These premium RAH figures are stupid expensive and I worry that they come damaged or less than perfect.

You scored a bargain with G3X? cos you can't find them on ebay or most places except JP Yahoo auctions. You should get G4, he looks damn awesome with the rocket launcher. Just received my Juspion yesterday and he looks damn cool with Gavan, Sharivan and Shaider.

well when i meant rubber suit i mean real rubber that's thicker than pleather like the Medicom UltraSeven 2.0 (molded suit), the older version uses some vinyl rubber like suit that's flexible like spandex. so i guess when you mention stormtrooper you mean those ultra thin vinyl coated fabric which are stretchable, the Stormtrooper ones a mess it's worse than Pleather. i always apply a coat of leather polisher (non alcoholic) to give it a shinny look & layer of coating protection.

I'm very surprised after after nearly 13 years (RAH 100 2001) the damage is considered minimal all the while sitting in sealed box. Now i just can't figure out how to keep it in tip top condition.

I tried putting in dust free cabinets, doesn't help much. I'm guessing heat & humidity control is also essential. But you can't stop oxidation from happening, the loss of glue on the top vinyl coat makes it crack & flake off from the fabric, so i'm guessing a layer of coating on top (& maybe inner side too) should help alot.

Sorry for misquoting your I.D Potato. Guess that happens when you reply via smart phones. :slap

So far only a few medicom figures that I own got ravaged through material breakdown and all of them were not placed inside acrylic cases, while those that had been, stayed in top condition. Depending on where you live, you need to custom care for them according to your environment. Here in Singapore, the weather is very humid. Therefore desiccants are ideal to control moisture. I came to a conclusion that dust and moisture plays a huge role in the breakdown of these suits. At least for me:dunno

Well so far i still couldn't find any pictures related to Hot Toys Body swap & removing the leather top coat leaving the black fabric, so not sure how good they would look without those nice Leather look.

BTW any Old Rider 1 fans here? I just noticed something strange, that all the Medicom Old Rider 1 figures has the switches on his left side of the belt, but the words on the belt ("Tuning" & digits) seems upside down. I checked other items like Vinyl figures, statues & TV show reference all of them have the switches on the left side, but i couldn't find TV reference showing the wordings on the belt. Which makes me wonder, was it accidental that the actor wore the belt upside down & they just continued keeping the error, or was it intentionally written upside down? Or was it just Medicom messing up (from ver 1.0 - 3.0)?

On the old rider question. My Ver 3.5 that came with old cyclone has the "turning" placed correctly. It was not upside down nor looked anything abnormal. I used to have V1 and v2.0 but can't recall if they were upright or as you mentioned.

if you have time mind taking a pic of the belt switch? are the newer belts made with pleather instead of rubber?

i have the RAH 100 & RAH 172 (2003 late version), both has the same belt with the on/off flip switch lower infront & the tuning & digits written upside down if you put it on his left side, however 1 is turned towards the inside the other outside, but still the tuning is upside down lol I think the error just keeps passing down to ver 3.0.

i wonder how accurate 3.5 is compared to actual shown in TV. Though RAH 100 is still my favorite due to the Hongo face that comes with it.

no problem about the ID.

well i have had pleathers outside covered with plastic bag, inside dust free cabinet, what i see is, despite being inside the cabinet, they will look good as long as you don't touch them, because the glue on the pleather has already dried up, when you start articulating the figures or hold them by the suits they start to crack. leave it alone and they will look good for another 10 years. so meaning despite still looking good they actually started to deteriorate. I have the Rocketeer v2.5 which is one of my favourites, i moved him abit to clean everything, the leather suit just cracked, luckily i saw it and quickly used paper glue to seal off the crack, his sleeve touched the glass cabinet, and a small patch came out sticking onto the glass... the rest of the pleather suit guys like Fist Of North Star i have no idea how to transport them without damaging the suits further, do i really need to take a cab and hold the guy on his arms all the way?

BTW do you know any Ultraman or Kamen riders that wear Rubber molded suits instead of pleather/vinyl suit? So far i only know UltraSeven v2 does, it looks abit thick & doesn't provide good articulation but you don't have to worry about breaking suits. Saw a few cheap Medicom Riders but too worried about those suits...

And regarding those dessicant bags & moisture boxes, i put a Hygrometer in the cabinet, i notice despite having those moisture absorbing kits, the humidity is still same as environment since the cabinet is not air tight moisture will still get in the same way hot/cold air do, however i just hope the water gathered inside the moisture boxes help. Turning on the Air-Conditioning or getting a Room Dehumidifier would be best but it would just end up with expensive bills. My current place has humidity around 50%-60% and i can easily lower it to 40% with air conditioning coz all the windows are closed. My old place averages 65% & can go up to 75% due to rain & fixed ventilation windows, turning on air conditioning can only lower it down to 50%.

I just found the papers inside the RAH 100, it came with a small booklet (nice read) & a poster, Instruction paper & a parts list, since the list is all in Japanese, i doubt Medicom will entertain foreign buyers taking into account they'd have to pay more for the postage & the communication would be a problem. Best would be buying from a reputable Japanese online store like HLJ or Amiami & I'm sure they will have no issue helping you get a replacement as long as Medicom still has the extra parts. Small private sellers on ebay, i doubt they can do anything more than we do.

BTW the price for individual parts, 13 years ago is already quite expensive, i wonder how much do parts cost nowadays. For premium i do understand the 1 to 1 exchange, since they don't want people to go on buying all the parts & assemble their own figure. But what if it's missing part? How do you do a 1 to 1 exchange when you don't have 1?

I believe version 3.0 and 3.5 are identical barring their exclusive gloves that come with each version. Anyways here are 2 blurry pics. It is still in the acrylic case so pardon the quality.

If I recall, ver 1 had this functional tear shaped knob as a switch (I could be wrong). ver 3.0 & 3.5 's are just a piece of pointy rubber that doesn't do anything

Oh i forgot to mention that the belt is pleather.
About the list that comes in the box, you can actually buy the parts from Medicom but you need someone in Japan to help you out with that. Furthermore, that list is valid within 6 months of the figure's release. Yeah they were very expensive therefore most of the time I'd just get the whole figure to get the part i wanted and part off the rest on ebay. But those were the days where customising and kitbashing were the rage and nice 1/6 parts were pretty scarce.

i used to have many rah ultraman figs back in the day but I'm just left with ver 1 of B type and Tiga. They are both rubber suits with tiga being the tougher material while b type more stretchable. I am very concerned and paranoid of my rah figures deterioration so I mess with them once a week to fiddle the body and parts. Weird as it sounds, its kinda a "workout" for them..

That's a very good question. I have no freaking idea how to convince them if they shipped the figure with a part missing lol. I hope I dont have to experience that unfortunate situation. was pretty anxious when I opened juspion yesterday...

thanks for the pic, i found a picture of 3.0, not sure glued on the switch wrongly or it's just the same mistake as 1.0, 2.0. But you're right the switch can be turned.

Lol. I could have sworn 3.0 was identical to 3.5 barring gloves. Not sure if the mask gap was a feature with 3.0 too. The pic from porkins is quite interesting. Looks like it's placed the wrong way? Or was this a design for the earlier shows?..

Ok checking the product archive on medicom's website shows that 3.0 belt switch is different from 3.5. Cant see the pic if it was upside down. The mask gap is a feature for both figures.

well everything before 3.5 seems to have it upside down exactly the same way. not sure whether it's from the show or not, even the 2003 Later version with the Red eyes & darker greens.

I just opened up the 2003 Rider 1 Later ver. Notice his knee was wobbly, since it's moving left/right i figure it's broken. Made a tough decision to open up the suit, since the jacket was hardened with the armor i can't remove it, had to cut off the Suspenders attached to the pants, glued back the broken parts. Good thing the pants fit well even without the suspenders. This guy is 11 years old and the suit seems still very good staying in the box for 11 years. I hope it can last long on display. The Later version looks darker compared to earlier version, it has a empty egg face behind the mask. I wonder if ver. 3 & 3.5 also has that?

You are talking about RAH 172, Sakurajima version? Whatever you do, don't stretch the leather suit. They will tear for sure. I made him sit on cyclone and the crotch area just tore. I left you a p.m btw.

The new gaim figuarts look fantastic. Im not too fond of the show itself, and the hips on the figures could be better. But they really make the early figures look bad
