No doubt! :hi5:
One of the details I especially like is that you could see parts of his blue race suit underneath the damage. :clap

It was one of the worrying things in that scene. I know the MKV was a light armour, but even still, if Tony hadn't ended it when he did, he could have been killed.
The element of Tony being in mortal danger(and using his wits to get out of it) is one that has been present throughout the movies.

Indeed, but that's a necessary element to have in order for all his movies to work. If he is never in danger of being killed, the excitement is lost. Ironic, really, that the comics are entitled, "The Invincible Iron Man". :lol

And yet, the crazy thing is that any serious impact he had whilst in the armour should kill him.
That one during the avengers when he crashes out of the sky and hits the bus stop before the Avengers all start getting pummelled would have killed him, saying nothing of the trees he flew through when he was fighting Thor in the woods. Has anyone seen the damage that happens to a car when it hits a tree?
:rotfl
So there's danger, but not *too much* danger, lol.

If he were wearing the Mk42 he would probably have been killed. That armor fell apart after hitting a guard rail on a crane. A tree would have been substantially more damaging with the additional mass. :rotfl

The grim reality is that with ANY suit, he would be squashed into a sheet of paper by hitting a tree.
Don't get me wrong, i love the movies, and it totally seems believable in the context of the movies.
But this is what would happen to the suit if he hit something stationary:

Oh yes I definitely agree that he would be squished. If the suit doesn't get squished, then he'll get squished against the suit. As with any vehicular impact, there are 3 impacts: the vehicle (the suit) against an object, the occupant/passenger against the vehicle (Stark against the suit) and the occupant's internal organs against his own body (Stark's brain against his skull for example).

But this is all for fun and entertainment. That's what movies are all about after all. ;)

Of course.
Like i say, i am not nitpicking. I love these movies, and the suits.
I even think the MK42 seems to be stronger with Stark in it, like he is a stressed member, adding strength like a motorcycle engine.

I was thinking along the same lines too. In one scene, he falls out of the sky, crashing through the forrest, showing how strong the armor is, then in other scenes the armor gets taken out by an 18 wheeler and by hitting whatever it was on the platform at the end of the movie, showing how fragile it seemed. Like you, I loved the movies. I just didn't like the inconsistency when it came to the 42.

Or maybe Stark himself was extremely resilient (see what I did there? ;) ) when it came to the movies. He did survive that massive crash with a barely in-tact Mark I.

Lol, never. I love the Iron Man movies, trust me. I grew up reading IM comics from the early 70's on up. He, by far, will always be my favorite hero. I am extremely happy that I got to see him on the big screen, something that I thought I never would especially when IM was almost cancelled as a comic way back. I consider myself fortunate enough to live in a time when movies like these can be made AND be made great.

Well when 42 broke apart on the railing is was completely open, it makes sense that it wouldn't be at full strength

And its also not a stretch to imagine that the suit would be designed or programmed to come apart when unoccupied (where no one inside is in danger) to absorb the energy rather than just be crushed and deformed in one piece and be broken. Its like with a human body, if you are unconscious or trained enough to relax your muscles when you tumble down a ski slope or get hit by a line backer your body has a lot better chance of escaping injury then if you tense up and take the impact in one sharp moment, same reason there are crumple zones in a car- impulse baby.

All in all the Mark 42 needed less fail. I don't even get why when "the Mandarin " attacked his house, he suited up in the Mark 42 when he was still using the Mark VII >_>

I wish he would have used the mk 5 or any of his older suits in the later movies, would have been cool to see them in action again.

Not getting into the IM aspect of the discussion, but cool video. Very sobering, indeed.

As for Mark V, I think along with Mark III, it is the most dated of the IM Marks. I actually quite dislike the design to begin with, but the figure itself also looks too plasticky for my tastes. I think it's been mentioned a few times that it would benefit from being re-released in diecast, and I'd agree with that.

The impressive part about that crash to me was how he fell head first from a few hundred feet in the sky, and then was somehow buried in the sand with his head sticking out. ;)

I get what you're saying, and I agree.

I guess sometimes we just have to leave the brain at the door before watching. :lol
