Heath Ledger's Joker, and to a lesser extent, Tom Hardy's Bane, were practically the ONLY things in TDK trilogy with NEARLY as much style or soul as Burton's Batman films.

There, I said it.

My goodness have you guys watched 89 Bats lately?? I mean it was never very good when it first came out. Plot holes, boring characters (I like Keaton as Bats but his Bruce Wayne is Dull), Dumb and I mean DUMB overall plot, poorly done action scenes, poor F/X even for the time it was made, and Dumb ideas (Joker kills Batman's parents, Joker killing people then everyone shows up to his parade)

It had the Tim Burton style, the Elfman score, and Jack Nicholson. Talk about taking out a character and leaving the film with nothing.

It's average at best. Perhaps I don't see it with such fondness because I saw it when I was older (18) and not as a kid.

Batman Returns is a much better film minus the ending adn all the Nolan films kick Batman 89's ***. At least I like characters in the Nolan Batman films. Hell Bruce Wayne is as interesting as Batman. I could care less about anyone in the 89 batman film.

Eat that Batman 89 fans ;) ;)

So many people getting their knickers in a twist over a comic book character.

What a complete waste of energy.

It's always been completely obvious that Keaton had a big ****, smiled quietly and then wiped his arse with Nolan's movies.

I'm looking forward to Jeffrey Dean Morgan wiping the floor with Bale's impersonation - I mean, interpretation.

You're a good egg.

You must be reading some pretty ****ty comics if you think they're all for children.

Ill agree that returns is a better movie but still the Keaton bat movies are still better than tdkr.

At least Burton could handle suspension of disbelief. He understood that in order to make Batman work, you have to put him into a different world in which he does work - not try to bend and contort the character and the mythology to try and make it work in the real world. That is why Nolan's trilogy will always be an Elseworlds tale, at best. Not because it's not the official comic book continuity, like any comic book movie, but because it takes the original mythos and puts a spin on it that completely differentiates it from the official source material - just like Gotham by Gaslight and Red Son. That doesn't make Nolan's movies bad, but it definitely gives me ample reason to disagree with commentors who feel that TDK trilogy should be regarded as the definitive Batman.

I agree with ya. I have no issue with those who prefer once franchise over the other. I don't really have a problem with the Nolan films aside from TDKR.

Great point about the Nolan Batman films. In no way should they ever be considered the definitve Batman... However.. So far... They are the Definitive Batman films... :)

I get the frustration over TDKR but I feel the hate for it seems a tad high. I mean people are willing to give Batman 89 a pass and that film has all sorts of flaws. Many are the same as TDKR.

Personally I think it's that I don't like Tim Burton as a director. He has a great vision but IMO he is not the best story teller.

Like I said I don't get the hate. It's far from perfect but I thought it did a good job overall. Nowhere near the film as BB and TDK but better then many of the other comic films out there.

Put it this way the hate you have for IM3 is how several of us feel about TDKR.

Yeah but IM3 really did suck!!! :)

I guess I am just surprised at the overall dislike for it or that there are so many people don't like it. I remember some haters when it first came out but I did not know it was this big. Plus know there seem to be Nolan Batman bashers.... Had no idea so many were out there also.

Like I said I also feel that TDKR is the weakest of the three and in no way am I going to try and defend it as I understand why people don't care for it. I was just surprised that it is hated as much as it is by as many as it is but I really have no issue with anyone hating the film.

Oh and I always love bashing on the highly overrated 89 Batman. :)

If Iron Man 3 "sucks" ( which it doesn't...), then so does TDKR. And Batman 89 is better. Deal with the facts.

You don't know why people hate TDKR so much and think it's unwarranted and in the same hand made it a point to bash the Burton Batman like there is nothing wrong in doing so.
