Re: The Man of Steel

No. I'm sadden at these opinions. They're really godawful.

Anyway. This is my favorite Jerry Goldsmith score.

Re: The Man of Steel

In his prime, Williams scored more than just movies... he scored an entire generation's childhood.

Oh, and final (release) poster:

So would this be the final theatrical poster? Or can we expect another one?

BTW, I may be mistaken, but I believe this poster was initially designed to be a lenticular with simulated motion. I can see it being pretty cool that way.

Mhm... pretty crappy regardless IMO...
It sucks that we rarely get good movie posters these days... *sigh*

Re: The Man of Steel

:lol Bad *** Digest:

It's always nice to get new posters, but I'm not a big fan of this one for Man of Steel. At this point, Warner Bros. should probably start thinking about something that involves cast members other than just Henry Cavill. Instead we have another poster of Henry Cavill. This time he's flying at us so fast that the whole poster, save for the text and some of his face, is blurred. Also: Lensflare.

Hopefully this is just one of many more to come. I don't know if this film deserves a bunch of character specific posters, but there are lots of good actors in this film, and you'd think at some point it'd be cool to highlight them a little.

Or maybe I'm totally off base. It is nice that Superman can fly, after all. There may be some people out there who are still worried that he won't be able to fly in this next one because they haven't seen any of the trailers yet, don't know how modern movie making decisions work, and were not born with the mental gifts many of us take for granted.

For those people this offers undeniable proof: Superman will fly in this film.

Also, Superman will appear in the film even though it's called Man of Steel instead of Superman. That guy on the poster is Superman. He can fly.

bad poster- more photoshopped crap

Ahh the days of Bob Peak and Richard Amsel- pure Art as movie posters

Re: The Man of Steel

I wonder if Zod/Faora are Krypton revolutionaries, the bad must be purged type of folks.

You know, like the other 2 last year. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

Overrated is dumb. Yes.

But there's a difference between recognizing quality, and ignoring it. Have all the opinions you want. But damn. It just comes across as fanboyish. If someone gave me a choice between Raiders of the Lost Ark soundtrack and The Mummy Returns sound track to listen too right now, i'd pick The Mummy Returns. It's my favorite score. And I love it.

But if you asked me which one was the better score, it would be Raiders, because it resonates far more then Returns.

It's your opinion. But that doesn't mean it can't frustrate me.

Re: The Man of Steel

Yes.

If you do not rate JW above HZ then you are a nut case :rotfl:rotfl

Why do they have to be compared anyway?? Its not about whose better, they are both great composers. With music its very difficult to compare, its not sports where one guy posts better stats then the other. I guess u could use record sales as an indicator but taste figures in way to much for it to be an objective measure. Until there is a stat system created for musicians there is no way to filter out bias and taste. I mean some may say the best band ever is the Beatles, others the stones or maybe some other band from a different genre. Neither is wrong or right its their taste. Its sort of like saying crab is the best food in the world... much better then prime rib.. or chinese food over Italian or visa versa....out of 10 people u would have split or random votes..

Re: The Man of Steel

Whilst I agree that modern movie posters often pale in comparison to some of the posters we saw throughout the 40's up until the 90's, I disagree that the last great posters were those released for The Dark Knight in 2008.

I can't figure out how to directly include pictures in my post because I'm on my iPad, but I know that I really liked the posters for Toy Story 3, Argo, Buried, Drive, Django Unchained, Moon, District 9, to name a few that I can remember.
