Just taken yet another look at the PPS and MMS Mark 42 offerings from Hot Toys and now having seen the film I'm so totally even more disappointed with both; the MMS just looks terrible and completely out of proportion whereas the PPS looks better but I'm not a fan of the pose :gah:

Really hope Sideshow/Legacy do something awesome in 1/4 scale so I can get a representation of this armour

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the film a lot, but none of the armours grabbed me as "I want this on my shelf".

Saw the film yesterday, it was enjoyable, very funny at times, i got a Lethal Weapon vibe from it (but that was inevitable, right?)

however, from a figure stand point, the only HT I would like from this line is the one that I was originally not that interested in, the Tony Stark figure

As someone stated, this is the THE representation of this film

The film was about Tony Stark, not about Iron Man, the armours took a back seat

As for the Mandarin, it would seem pointless to have a figure of him, just because he's not a 'real' villain as such, i thought it was hilarious on film, but from a collectible stand point, nah...

Yeah I certainly wont be buying any representation of the mrk 42 unless I'm totally happy with the product, whilst it's a cool armour I can live without having something based on it in my life

i really really like this movie and im seeing it again at leasr 2 more times. but im not getting any figures from it. maybe after matk 7, hulk and loki, im really done with hot toys.

maybe.

I'm waiting for the new Robocop, ED-209, and possibly the BD T800 if they make it more accurate. Would not say no to a 2012 Dredd either, HT, if you're listening,

I am a bit over IM, figures wise. I don't need every iteration on my shelf. Overkill.

Yep, the movie was fantastic, but re waisting money on the same figure with different variations over and over, I don't think so.

I think I'm done with all the extra MARK'S also.

It's like being on the same same ride, just different theme park.

Spartan.

Kinda refreshing to hear that people have OD'd a little on HT IM. Definitely ready myself for this line to go on hiatus for a bit, especially in regards to the Marks. Stuff like Red Snapper just seems so tangential to the franchise... I really don't see why anyone would need that on their shelf.

In regards to Mandarin, I can totally see why he's a pass for some once one knows the twist. At least with Monger or Iron Whiplash, they're 'real' villains and even if the movie portrayal doesn't quite work (as in IW's case), they're still close enough to comic design that I'm OK buying them for that reason alone. Mandarin, on the other hand, is definitely a representation of Kingsley in the film and not really close enough to the comics design for my tastes. If I were a bigger Kingsley fan or 100% into the Mandarin character, maybe, but to my thinking he just doesn't rate next to the other two. That said, I'm sure the figure will look cool and I'm looking forward to seeing how HT executes the costume. They're getting better and better with the 1:6 tailoring, it seems to me.

Just came from my second viewing.

I think I want a Kilian figure now to be my shelf Mandarin.
Didnt notice before he had those dragon tattoos on his body.

His final battle outfit looks a lot like this too:

Just seen the film really enjoyed it, and i still want mandarin figure , thought ben kingsley was brilliant the whole movie

Im ggonna predict that this movie might be final hurrah for Hot Toys' Iron Man prioritization.

What probably happened is that some point in the past few months Hot Toys had a discussion with Marvel films asking what Armors were featured in the movie. Marvel gave them a list and images, and Hot Toys decided to just roll with it, not realizing that some of the Armors were only in the film for under a minute.

Now that it has been revealed how small of a role some of these armors play (combined with the rapidly inflated price tags), I can easily see a few of these like the Red Snapper warming shelves for months.

I really hope we get a Killian figure as he was my favorite character.

I will still get the HT Mandarin no matter what, but Knowing what happened in the film, I would much rather have Killian and the decoy Mandarin together on my shelf as a pair, than just the decoy Mandarin.

But was Killian really the real mandarin..? Maybe he was a decoy for.. the REAL mandarin.. :lol
