I agree.

One of the things that I found so cool about the first Iron Man film was that while the technology was highly advanced, it was still just within the realm of believability. You could almost believe that something like this could really exist.

Every film they have taken it farther and farther away from this, what with a gantry that can disassemble the armor while Tony is walking, a flying armor that can catch Tony assemble itself and boot up before he hits the ground, and now modular armor that flys and assembles itself on Tony.

Sure it makes for cool CGI, but you lose something the farther and farther you move from reality.

A nano particle suit which is stored inside Tony's body and assembles itself (or whatever) would just be kind of stupid.

I respectfully disagree. While I still love the first movie the most, it's far from being believable/within the realm of possibility. Lotsa technical as well as physical restrictions. The second movie just added a rotating gantry, the Avengers added a walking gantry and later a suit that assembles itself by laser-scanning while in IM3 we have modular self-propelled parts that can be remote accessed to assemble/disassemble itself. So nothing seems too farfetched.

Because getting bitten by a radioactive spider and being able to crawl walls is believable? Like getting blasted by high doses of gamma radiation allows you to turn into the Hulk? They're comic book movies. Demand too much reality from them, you'll go insane.

My rule for watching these movies, go in, turn higher reasoning off, and enjoy the ride. And when all is said and done, it's a fun ride. :)

maybe he didn't mean it like that.
it felt like they tore up the reality they build from iron man 1-2 in which the armors were strong and change it to fragile iron man armors.
but I admit, that scene was hilarious:wink1:

I got the impression that, being a multi-part self-assemble suit, if you will, that it was already kind of... problematic. :D

My bad, if my point didn't get across to ya.

I was saying exactly the same thing. These movies are based on comic books which are a work of fiction wherein events, characters and stuff can be beyond reasoning i.e. fictional. So why convince us by trying to be overtly creative and screw it in the name of realism. We don't want it and never asked for it.

Exactly. I didn't :hi5:

Now I'm really not sure what your point is.

Great idea for a thread Tommy!

It'll be useful for months (I remember after the Avengers there were still people complaining about spoilers who hadn't seen it)!

Before I saw the film I was worrying about how I was gonna get the money together to buy some of the newer armours (Heartbreak etc).

Then I saw the movie which made me so happy. I decided my first priority is to have the Tony Stark figure.

Then (closer to release) I'll probably pick up Iron Patriot because he was pretty badass in his solo scenes (Rhodey not Savin/President) and then the Mark 42. Whilst the Mark 42 was used a lot the best thing about it was it's ability to fly onto him, so it's a shame we are stuck with the full figure that isn't at it's coolest stage.

The Mandarin is a must get. The twist was fantastic and on a quick note about the Mandarin, Killian is more like the Mandarin is character, he's just not like him in style/look. So between Kingsley and Pearce the Mandarin is fully explored which for me was the best way to do it. With this in mind I wouldn't mind a Killian figure, but with a glowy headsculpt.

Finally I would love a Mandarin home invasion Tony.

I want a HT Mandarin with talk feature saying "You'll Neverrr Seee Meeee Commiinnngggg"

Blink and you'll miss them and even then you'd probably need someone to pause the film just to make sure you do indeed spot them :wink1:

TBH, I didn't even notice them in film. Admittedly, I was enjoying big explodey stuff, but yeah... not noticeable at all.

After the film, none of the armours grabbed me, really. I'm happy with my Mark IV. Probably what is the best representation between comic book and film so far.

In my opinion, of course. :)

:exactly: I'm going to save a lot of money that i thought i'd be spending on this line.

Screen time? I just popped the top off of a beer.

Likelihood of a figure, probably about 100% knowing HT.

Well that sucks, still hoping on Hot Toys to make them tho.

Not happy with IM3's use of the new armors for seconds and then blowing them all up at the end, just seems pointless to create them all then destroy them for Pepper :dunno i sure wouldn't

Same, only ones I noticed was the Redsnapper being torn to pieces and Igor because I'd already seen the scene in the trailer :slap :lol
