I ordered just the Reg. Hoping mine will be okay. But from reading all these posts, the percentage of good ones seem awefully low. Worried now

You guys act like this doesn't happen with everyone company right now. Even smaller ones like PCS are using these factories and the problems that happen are random. That's why Jerry went out to China to check things out. First 4 Figures keeps a very close eye on their factory from what I can tell so it seems like quality control stays very nice on their products. Sideshow would probably do well with that kind of management. F4F posts images and videos of the WIP factory builds all the time so I'm assuming they watch what goes on very carefully.

I think it sucks for us, but really you can't blame Sideshow too much for this. They are giving basic jobs here and people are ____ing up. It's supposed to be a system.

That being said I don't get where the inspection comes in though. I feel like there should be a quality control division that checks the finished product for each statue and then boxes it up, asysuming that isn't how it is done already.

With the high percentage of problems with this statue, doesn't Sideshow check each statue out at their office before shipping them over to their customers? Or is the QC process only done at the factory in China? Otherwise, they could be paying a lot more for customer shipping charges.

I hope this sloppiness wasn't due to trying to release the statue on time while sacrificing its quality.

I agree you have a good point there. I'm sure shipping is whatever for SS because they have sold many statues, and the repaints takes care of costs. But either way there should be some kind of QC on statues. It would make it easier for both sides. If it was the packing that caused this then I hope they learn from it. I just want my ex spider woman that I paid for that's it. I don't ask for more. I'm sure SS will work with us.

I posted my original pics on 73. I didn't bother putting her together earlier since it'll get replaced or refunded, I figured why bother getting used to it now. But I'm up late and figured just do it.

Glad I did because I discovered how the EX head is worse than I thought.

I thought it was the socket in the body that was damaged because both heads were going in weird. But a fiddled with the Reg head a little and it mostly went in. So I think the peg on the EX is extra crooked plus the socket in the body is off. The Reg is off but not as bad. After taking this pic I was able to get the Reg in more so the right shoulder connects, but what that did is make the back side of the left shoulder not align with the body.

I've been buying from Sideshow for maybe five years now, and I've had to replace one piece ever (Alien Big Chap Maquette). I can put up with small paint blemishes or tiny chips, as long as you can't notice from afar. However, that alignment issue on your Spiderwoman is just absolutely unacceptable.

I still have a few pieces on order with SS, but I find myself getting less and less excited for upcoming pieces. I'm well on my way to sticking only to limited customs - they don't have these issues.

This would be a great idea if they had the QC team checking them before it goes out. It would save them money in the long run instead of getting so many returns and replacements.

Exactly. That's what I was thinking. I send back about 50% of mine and get a discount for damage on the other 25%. Its a small percentage that come in good first time.

Im worried. I already had about 6-7 damaged statues from around 10 orders last year , Im still dealing with SS for a replacement batpod and psylocke head , been over 2 months since they were shipped,
i can live with few minor paint problems, but Im worried about the hair breaking on most shipments,
my replacement psylocke head too came with hair damaged at the same spot, waiting for another replacement

Well there you go...they didn't bother with this one. Or at least mine didn't have a QC sticker. Which would be correct, since there aparently was no QC on this.

I've been collecting for 2 years. Most of my statues, including 14 SS peices, are from eBay. I've had NO problems with any of my eBay wins. Of the 5 orders I recieved directly from SS, 3/5 have been fualty.

Lol, Rogue, Psylocke, Spider-Woman, those are my 3 duds. Another commone factor: Marvel Women. My Marvel Men are great to excellent with tight paint lines and very minimal overlaps/paint bleeding. My Legendary Scale Busts are damn near flawless. As a matter of fact, the EX nameplates are painted better than the 3 Marvel chicks. The few non Marvel pieces from SS I have are also great.

If Storm comes in good I'll be surprised at this point. I'm interested to see how Poison Ivy will come since she's not a Marvel woman. It's like the Marvel women are painted by a different set of people. Except for Ultron the Marvel men seem to get more care.

Doesn't even the newest batch of Psylocke still crack though? I think part of why there are issues with this statue is just the nature of the statue. The intricate lining of her web areas for example are obviously an easy place to mess up and even if they get it right, having the paint run or something from moisture would completely mess it up. It's not an excuse for this, but there are challenges to overcome. Some things like Psylocke though was just nonsensical. That should have been an easy win for Sideshow.

Then Shaak Ti is majorly ****ed.

it's the factories, clearly this was done in some new outsourced factory that had no clue the quality expected. It's different than the psylocke mess in that psylocke was painted and done to a high level of quality but just that they had an oversight on the process. This statue shows the manufacturer had no idea the level of quality that is expected.

I say it again and again, sideshow is very good at going all out and create high risk amazing sculpts unlike boring bowen/dcd, but for whatever reason they just refuse to have on-site QC and instead rely on those chinese factories, which is why it results in such wide variation of quality, they might as well be made by different brands.

Dont understand why for a medium sized outfit like ss, they refuse to spend the money and just send a few guys with a good eye to china to oversee the operations, is saving a few months of rent & salary really worth the damage to the brand and cost of doing returns/unsold inventory.

That's my thinking too. Since it's a lesser character she was sent to a crappy factory.
But really they should have paid staff on-hand that is just there to inspect the process. And then have some staff in CA that checks every product before shipping. If they're going to raise prices they should raise standards as well.
