Uhhh,

"You were going to kill that guy."

"Of course I'm a Terminator.

Thats one exchange in T2 I've never liked. "Of course, I'm a Terminator" just doesn't seem to me like the kind of thing a Terminator should say. I would have preferred that he responded to John with silence or a simple 'yes' there.

That line was a bit too "inform the audience" for me.

they didn't want people to hate Arnold at the start of t-2 and then try to make them sympathetic towards him later. it wouldnt have worked as well. But i see your point.

Im not sure i like the whole premise of the movie to begin with. Why wouldnt the terminators send the t-1000 back in time to 1984 to help the other one, or at least to a time when he was a newborn, more vulnerable than he would be as a teen. It doesnt make sense, thats why its a movie. Just enjoy it, dont think too much :)

What about the punks in the first one? They threaten him in the same way almost. I don't remember the first Terminator taking the knife and slamming it into the punk's shoulder. He punched and pulled his organs out.

I think a room full of bikers with guns and knives are more of a threat than 3 teenage punks with small knives.

"You were going to kill that guy."

"Of course I'm a Terminator.

Those guys at the bar should have been killed.

Different situation, though. In T1, there were just three street punks and in T2 there was a bar full of bikers. The bikers were better skilled and had weapons, but the T-800 had to deal with them quickly. Throwing one into a kitchen or out a window helped eliminate threats quicker then punching someone and grabbing their innards. The T-800 threw the one biker thru a window pretty fast and may have been trying for a killing attack had the biker landed on the cement outside head first. The other biker got stabbed in the upper torso/shoulder area and that could have been a kill shot, too. Just because the guy was whining "pull it out" doesn't mean he was perfectly fine. Internal bleeding, probably hitting the lung area with a knife that big, etc.

When a T-800 has time, it can choose to make the kill - like when the T-800 almost killed the guy in the parking lot in front of John. If it has to grab a suit of clothes and fight a bar full of bikers, it's going to use the least amount of resources given the unknown nature and balance of the fight.

Arnold has no real personality in T1 which is why he's so effective. Sort of like Robert as the 1000.

The one personality we got with Arnold trying to be human in T1 was the "____ You _______" scene which is classic.

That doesn't bother me, not like the blatant "I need a vacation" line. Terminators are ruthless, efficient killers. They're MADE to kill people.

"Of course, I'm a Terminator."

If the line was delivered differently or if the T-850 from T3 said it, yeah I'd probably feel the same way you do. But it's so cold in T2 and the Terminator is really just stating the obvious. It could have been really corny if it was done the wrong way. Almost like winking to the audience.

The "I needa veecation" line is just BAD though. They should have dropped that and included "It has to end here, or I am the future" later when John doesn't want him to go. What a waste.

I guess. Like I said, it's not like Cameron and Co. were going to show the "good" Terminator kill in the opening of the film anyway.

I've always wondered that too. Why not send back another one just after the first was destroyed and Sarah was still a whiny girl instead of the female Rambo? Or why not send two back? Or 100?

I really think they should have thrown in a line or two in T2 to say why Skynet/the resistance didn't just keep doing that. Either the time travel device isn't that accurate or the resources for it are limited or something! Otherwise it really doesn't make sense to try to kill Joh/Sarah at different times. I mean why not go back to Sarah's ancestors and take one of them out when they were only using swords and arrows? A robot would have scared them to death as a last resort :lol

But, correct me if I'm wrong, before the film came out didn't they try to play up the "which is the good terminator" thing? That made the Galleria fight the moment where the audience would first find out who is bad and who is good.

In fact, it seems like the T-1000 kills people out of annoyance or at a whim. The truck guy, he wasn't a threat or in the way of his mission and he just stabs him. He kills Max after the T-800 foiled his plan to acquire John Connor.

Remember though, that the T-1000 has to kill people (or pets) in order to copy them - it's part of its' programming. If I were the T-1000 I would be killing everyone I ran into just so that I could use their likeness somewhere down the line. :lol

Yeah the first few trailers, especially that "building a better Terminator" teaser. But a few months before the film came out they totally abandoned that concept and used the "this time there are two, TERMINATOR 2" campaign.

The latter trailers even state, "He's back for good". So the previous marketing with the iconic mage of the T-800 on the bike with the red eye and the "nothing personal" tagline along with that teaser was all for nothing considering fans went in knowingly.

They set the film up that way though, making it seem like he could still be bad and the T-1000 good. Especially in the hall scene at the Galleria.

Not true. If you check the original trailer, the narrator even states that this time Arnold is "back for good". The entire trailer shows Arnold in the good-guy role and the final statement implies it.

Yeah well, if it were "real life" I'm sure the T-1000 wouldn't look like one person (in this case the "Austin"/Cop X/Robert Patrick Default setting) most of the time.

For efficiency and anonymity he could have been different people everytime. In fact that's what an infiltrating machine would do. But again, it's a movie. I know I don't sit there and think of these things as I try and enjoy it.

It certainly seemed like he bagged and tagged most of his victims for the hell of it though.

Well, the default cop was the best setting for him. Nobody questions where cops go or bothers them if they're poking around a mall or hospital. It's a very recognizable uniform and it makes people back off. I mean, the only other high ranking, go-anywhere type I could think of would be FBI or CIA and they don't have visually reconizable attire.

Remember, sometimes, the best place to hide is in plain sight...

Well yeah, but come on. You're a shapeshifter. Are you going to continually appear the same to your target when you could be ANYONE? As much as I love the "cop from hell" look you have to admit that a "mimetic poly alloy" keeping the same face is kinda of lame for a calculating machine. But I wouldn't have it any other way because the T-1000 is iconic.

It would have been interesting if the T-1000 mimicked the T-800 in the steel mill. He had enough physical contact to copy him.

Ok, so whats T3's story? Does nobody want a TX? I always see Connor being brought up but never TX. I thought she was quite good and very sexy. She/it wasn't the problem with T3 imo. Infact she kinda had Patricks vibe. But nobody seems to want her in figure form. Kinda makes me sad really. My very modest shelf needs a female. She would be perfect. Hmm. Yeah, i want her next. Furlong can wait.

edit:
oops need to make a comment regarding thread topic. pre-ordered!:yess:

The movie just wasn't very good. Just like the Salvation figures, I would have no interest in any T3 figures because I thought the movies kind of sucked, no matter how nice the figures might be.

I'm pretty sure Hot Toys stated NO T3 figures. If for some reason they made the TX and before the T2 Young John Connor no less, that would be a serious crime.

Yeah I haven't bought any of the Salvation Hot Toys figures even know they look good and I kind of enjoyed the movie. T3 though, never. Not a fan of the material. Only want The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day figures.
