I just watched the Scream awards footage.

Mark my words, the Comic Book genre will never be the same and the aftermath of this film will be severely true to book films as well as a seriousness in the cinematic structure that hasn't been seen before. The film is already a masterpiece from just the trailers without release. It will shatter records and create a whole new fanbase that will rival anything done before. The popularity of this film will force HT's hand if they weren't already doing it and my following of that line to its entirety will be ridiculous.

Dr. Manhattan was always my favorite so complex yet so simplistic at the same time. Every shot with him in it screams the comics to me. In Zack I trust.

It's rated R. The only records it may touch are the ones for R-rated films. I expect it to do box office like 300.

I don't think Mike was referring to box office records (but I could be mistaken). I'm sure WATCHMEN won't make much more than $200 mil or so domestically. And, you're right... 300 is the better benchmark.

One thing is pretty clear, though... if Snyder even comes close to pulling this off it will make pretty much every other superhero movie out there look pretty damn flaccid in comparison. (Yes, even the vaunted TDK). That might be what he was trying to say.

I think the phrase "will shatter records" is what must have gotten me so confused.:lol:lol:lol

Well, it has a shot at breaking some R Rated box office records, particularly ones that are not Summer releases. Incidentally, the target to beat there is not TDK but "The Passion of The Christ". :monkey3

But honestly, I don't care how much this makes. I won't be measuring the success or quality of WATCHMEN by the box office at all.

Yes. If its as good as the book, it WILL BE BETTER THEN THE DARK KNIGHT!! I hope it is. I really do. I may be a newbie Watchmen fan, but I just fell in love with the book....well, not the first time. But the second time for sure.

Then they can say "Watchmen is bigger than Jesus.":lol:lol:lol

Yeah, the heroes are pretty much all either Jewish or Polish. Well, with the exception of The Comedian, who's of course an Irish bastard. :duff
