I still wouldn't call it innovation. Customs have been doing the magnetic attachments for a while. I think what they've added is a degree of better sculpting, painting and option for rooted hair.

I don't see anything that they've innovated on personally. I'd imagine tailoring potentially could be better also just because production companies manufacturing 1/6 clothing generally is pretty good, so I imagine the higher price tag accounts for this also, I just think Hot Toys purposefully chooses to cheap on their tailoring.

But good on Inart for paving the next stepping stone. But I won't credit them for anything innovative. Maybe being bold enough to be the one's to do it.

Edit: But agian, I personally need to see in hand production to see if they've got the finesse down also. As much criticism that can be levied at Hot Toys they come out put together extremely well and with a presence. They just seemingly don't have the upgraded quality that Inart potentially will be providing. But for me, upgraded quality without the finesse, ehhh. We'll see.
It is 100% innovation for mass produced figures at this scale.

Hot Toys has been incredibly stagnant for YEARS now. Reusing entire figures, head sculpts, bases (looking at you Star Wars sand foot base) and god knows what other lazy half assed stuff they do.

Inart coming out the gate with higher quality tailored outfits, more accurate proportioned bodies, more life-like accurate sculpts, actual high quality rooted hair (none of that plastic Barbie hair that Hot Toys uses), magnet attachments for sculpts/hands, seamless arm to wrist (which Hot Toys is now suddenly doing with their Wolverine figure, thank you Inart), metal pers system so that it doesn't break (Hot Toys still uses plastic), magnetic bases to the feet so that a crotch grabber isn't needed anymore.

How is none of that innovation for the 1/6 mass produced figure scene? All the while, not charging $1000 for a single sculpt alone, Inart is actually pricing these figures competitively for what they're offering. The custom scene as a whole is a very niche group. You have outfits and sculpts doing runs for 30-60 people. Inart is over here trying to bring that custom quality that is out of reach to a lot of folks, to the general audience. It's not gonna be as good as those small custom runs of course but it's gonna be close enough for the price we're paying, which is what they're trying to do.

Don't get me wrong, it's still too early to say if they'll fully pull it all off but saying what they're trying to do isn't innovating is a bit of a misjudgment here.

The truth is everything is overpriced these days. I am just saying its not fair to point a finger at Inarts prices and at the same time make excuses for hot toys and defend there prices. It is very rare that hot toys do anything original anymore thats why many people like you mentioned are rooting for Inart to do well.

You cant buy more then 3 stormtroopers from hot toys without exceeding the price of that deluxe

I think we'll just be arguing about something that doesn't really matter in the end, they'll have outsourced production of materials to companies that can already produce better tailoring with better materials simply because they're paid more, it's hardly innovation. But yes I see where you're coming from in terms of incorporating what already exists but bringing it into the mainstream.

Still ain't innovation. :) :p

But agreed it's a good thing.

And finally from me outside of arguing innovation, the higher prices for them to incorporate these better techniques is much better in value that paying for the stagnation Hot Toys continues.

With the current reactions to InArt on Facebook and the comparisons that I have seen to Hot Toys...I wouldn't be too surprised if the 1/6 community goes into the harmful tribalism area in a year or two if InArt is successful...

I think you are looking at the word innovation too literally man

Yes all this stuff has been done before in 1/6. But to provide it in quantity for cheaper and more accessible way is also considered innovation I think

You have been buying expensive socks for too long that this is nothing new to you 😜 but it is for a lot of people in the lower market

You mean they are not there already?

Hahahah touché. We agree, I'm just being an ass.

:poop:

It wont be much of an innovation tho if when we get our jokors the magnets and hair start falling off

We really dont know for sure because inart has done a poor job showing off what they have as a final

It isn't innovation if you've been collecting various custom figures. Sure. But then you're considered the 1% at that point.

As I said, people who have experienced that custom scene is a very very very small group. A lot of the general audience hasn't experienced magnetic bases to foot, magnetic hands/sculpts, seamless arm to wrist options and non-shiny plastic Barbie hair for their figures.

It's sort of like if everyone had flip phones and Apple was making custom iPhones on the side to a hand full of people. They then suddenly start to mass produce it for everyone to enjoy. I'd still consider that innovation seeing as it effects a wider audience and will also push other companies to do more (Hot Toys) rather than just staying stagnant for years to come.

Price is touchy on this.

$1000 for 2 rooted figures and a diorama made from real metal and wood.

If in hand these are as good then the price is justified, either will hold or go up in vaule.
Dx11 is still a dam good figure to think that still goes for a pretty penny.

I will say the sculpted hair for $300 is trash. It looks like it was sculpted by sideshow in early days.

I really like the sculpt. Also think that big box is the done pack box and promo video is single sculpted hair box.

Either way I'm nervous about forking out atm. As for Danoby disrespectful a**.

Most of these macro pics of the heads are so good it looks life sized. When I get figures in hand I'm reminded how tiny they actually are. I don't usually see the full detail until I take pics and zoom in.

Maybe I just really need an eye test. :dunno

Usually I'm looking at these figure from 2-3 feet away or further. No one can convince me that on the shelf this set won't look stunning.

$1k for two full figures with rooted hair, no wrist pegs or unsightly crotch grabbers plus a diorama base doesn't feel massively overpriced.

Aren’t all the bodies for these figures fairly unique too? It isn’t like Hot Toys where they slap whatever head they want onto a TrueType, and make sure to stress over and over if they actually changed something on it.

I absolutely love the idea of magnets being used for all the attachments. I’ve had a few Hot Toys figures where the wrist pegs have been a pain, of even sometimes snapping off inside the hands. They suck. My DX11’s neck adapter came out of the laughing sculpt due to me changing it often for different displays. And magnets to keep the figure on the base helps soooo much with presentation - especially with Joker where his purple coat has to “drape” onto the crotch grabbers and bulge out in the back.

I wish InArt would sell some of those display cases they had in Las Vegas too.

Idk why people keep calling them $800-$1000 figures....they're only $1000 if you decide to pay for the best package. That comes with a ton of accessories and 2 figures. Not talking about you specifically but a lot of people have ran with this pricing narrative while ignoring the entire context that the figures are actually not $1000
Exactly. I pointed this out in The Batman room. You have a certain group hanging on to this false price comparison for whatever reason.

If I was to purchase the Hot Toys sculpted hair The Batman it would cost me $300USD +tax +shipping coming to around $345USD shipped. I could have purchased InArt's sculpted hair The Batman for $365USD shipped. Very comparable prices.

I for one want both Hot Toys and InArt to succeed. I'm way more of a Marvel guy, so I will still primarily be purchasing Hot Toys figures. The other line that means a lot to me is Harry Potter, so I'm excited and eager to see what InArt can bring. I have yet to purchase any of the Star Ace line because I have not seen any of their pieces that seem worth it to me.

I just don't understand why anyone falls in either group that wants Hot Toys to burn or not even give InArt any chance. There is a lost in translation factor for these companies as we are seeing InArt struggle with that. I do however see exactly why Hot Toys has zero communication now and no longer fault them for that seeing how InArt is being treated.

It happens to all (except Asmus). Sideshow was very involved with the community in the beginning, then moved away. Hot Toys was much more involved with the community in the beginning, then went on silent running for many years now. InArt will likely be the same if they are massively successful. If they remain niche, they may maintain communication in the way Asmus has done for 9 years now.

I mean these days HT doesn't just use one true type like they used to. Lots of time, the bodies are a bit if a frankenstien of different body parts.

For example, the recent Mando Boba Fett figures: Torso and legs are basically the same of Captain America with a wider neck opening, medium biceps (from what used to be called the Advanced TT), forearms from the slim TT. Moff Gideon used the torso of what was the narrow TT I believe, but with slim TT arms and legs. There are other combinations out there depending on the character but these were fresh in my mind and easiest to describe without pictures.

So the bodies are a bit unique per character these days in that they aren't just using one generic body for every single character.

And member R_X_X has mentioned that InArt is using modified CooModel bodies, so they're essentially doing the same thing HT is doing but with another company's product, rather than their own.

More respect to Asmus for staying in the communication game after that Ash debacle!

It's crazy how you had multiple Sideshow reps on this very forum posting in threads only for the entire forum to get revamped a few years ago and for them to completely disappear. I 100% see Inart moving away from communicating in the years to come. People are treating them as if they're a seasoned company like Hot Toys. I'm just here to see what they can bring to the table and how they'll improve over the years.

You had people in the Aragorn saying they should have been compensated with something for them not showing Aragorn at the event. Good lord people. :ohbfrank:

I'd have to agree on the body thing with HT -- they have a lot more choices to build body shapes now and seem to have made an effort in that regard plus the use of fatsuits -- which no one seems to like.
