That's the interesting part. Some will fork over the big bucks and then start rebuilding this expensive figure.

It's almost worth buying just the head sculpt and plopping it on the Asmus or even Sideshow versions of the figure.

Too lazy to sell my Asmus Gandalf so I'll probably be combining the two to make the best of both. Will probably only grab the outer cloak from Asmus Gandalf and use that one on Inarts version unless if the final production version is changed. The rest on Inart's version looks better from what I can see. Maybe even use Asmus sculpted hair if they ever get around to shipping that to me.

Inart has it right on the color. It's more on the red/brownish side if you look at the actual costume Ian wore.

What's lacking on Inarts version is weathering. It's color is way too uniform from end to end, giving it that more saturated look. It needs some dust/weather powder slapped on there to give it a more "lived in" look. Inart has the correct base for it though.

A light white-acrylic wash in the right places should solve the cloak issue.

Just caught the video. Still not really impressed with the paint work though that could be due to Justin's lighting. But overall looks better than the initial shots. The boots are the type of pleather that will want to crack overtime. Might have to grab a pair of Asmus boots since those are a softer material. Also, the long sleeve tan undershirt needs the thumb holes. Not 100% on if I want to keep my PO though. Something about has me less than excited about it.

Also very interesting @R_R_X about them using a modified CooModel body Those bodies have nice, tight joints, but they don't always have the cleanest molds.

It's essentially the same issue as TDK Joker's coat. In the movie it looked like a dark purple whereas the actual costume under regular lighting is a lighter plum color.

To me its all about screen accuracy not costume or prop accuracy under regular lighting. I want the clothes to match what we see on screen, not what someone in the props or makeup room is looking at.

Yeah it came across much more as a grayish-brown on screen, not this richer brown Inart seems to be going with.

There were two different cloaks.

The worn, tattered one with a big hood at the beginning of the film. A hoodless one when he returned to Hobbiton and for the rest of the film.

The old Sideshow figure has both cloaks.

It's essentially the same issue as TDK Joker's coat. In the movie it looked like a dark purple whereas the actual costume under regular lighting is a lighter plum color.

To me its all about screen accuracy not costume or prop accuracy under regular lighting. I want the clothes to match what we see on screen, not what someone in the props or makeup room is looking at.

Yup same here. I want what it was like on screen b/c that's what we're regularly watching and rewatching. I know there's a fine balance for sure, but I prefer them to be closer to screen accurate when it comes to colors rather than prop accurate.

This looked amazing even under Justin's spotlights, to me it has an expression and not the HT vacant toy eyes staring into nothing. I was prepared to be disappointed and was going to skip Aragorn if this didn't turn out right, but now I'm all in for this line.

Well.... I'm not gonna say I told you so - but I'm also not not going to say that.
Yep - the sculpt looks great, I could tell the bones of the likeness was good in the Vegas videos, but Justin's close up just shows how hood a likeness there is as well as showcasing all the details in the sculpt, paint etc. (maybe Justin has his uses....)

Very happy to have this one on pre-order the likeness between Inart and Asmus is night and day - Inart's is vastly superior both in resembling Sir Ian, but also in looking more human in general, the detail and paint on the Inart sculpt is also starkly superior to the Asmus.

There are things that the Asmus has better though - namely I prefer their colour and weathering of the outer cloak (though the brown is more accurate the filters/lighting on the camera make it look greyer on screen than on the prop itself) and the detail on the bottom of the trousers seems to be absent. I can't tell if this versions inner shirt sleeves have thumb holes for Gandalf and they just forgot to put them through or not... if they are absent it is a relatively easy fix.

But the Inart has done a lot besides the head which is also clearly superior to the Asmus - the hat (needs a little weathering but is already superior to the original one offered by Asmus given that it seems to actually fit on his head, plus it looks a higher quality), belts (thicker, more accurate material and weaving), satchel (which was a brown moleskin with a string for a strap on the Asmus as opposed to the woven belt on the Inart), Glamdring (the Inart one appears to have the elvish inscription inscribed into and blue jewel on the crossguard and the pattern on the scabbard which were all absent on the Asmus), the staff (apparently has the hole for putting the pipe through which is the same as the prototype of the Asmus figure but many of the actual final products didn't have the hole/it was sealed - mine was like that), the pipe also looks nicer than the Asmus and overall (minus the Asmus diorama - most of which were produced severely flawed) comes with more accessories.

Given that these are relatively the same price - to me it is very clear which is the superior offering. The Inart - by a country mile.

Looks great to me, spot on. If anyone says that's not a massive step up from the Asmus then they're fooling themselves .

You could just sell your Asmus one. The price different is basically negligible here, it costs almost the same to get the Crown Gandalf to the UK as it does the InArt one.

When the InArt Gandalf's finally released, it will be so much harder to sell the asmus crown gandalf with a decent price.

I was very fortunate to do this - I sold my Crown Gandalf for pretty much the exact price this Gandalf should cost me, but I would have been willing to sell the Asmus a little cheaper and pay the difference to buy this one.
Honestly, unless you are absolutely in love with your Asmus Crown Gandalf I would recommend doing the same.
You can always buy the parted out outer Asmus cloak and the trousers from eBay at a cheaper price once this Inart version comes out and the value of the Crown Gandalf drops.

I'm a HUGE LOTR nerd (as you know well Wor! ) and I've never noticed - you learn something new every day!
With that said, a woven strap seems far higher quality to me than a cheap string, so I know what my preference is.

Talking about screen accuracy vs prop accuracy is an interesting debate.
Which screen accurate version would you be talking about. The DVD or the Blu-ray or the 4K screen accurate version.
Each one of them has a different colour palette.
The 4K was a big change from the Blu-ray.
