I don't have any Thor figures so doesn't really matter for me,but I can see recycled and slightly modified sculpt yea, which is truly lazy especially for the price. I'm sure Thor collectors would be happier with the brand new sculpt and overall sales would be better. Friend on IG told me that there is another one coming, I don't know if its true tho.
I've never gotten a Thor either so I'll be happy with the sculpt.

He has certainly had a variety of head sculpts from Hot Toys. I am curious how it would have turned out if they actually put in the effort to have a rooted styled professionally head sculpt. Still happy I got the deluxe Ragnarok Thor. But I am still intrigued by this new released one. Thankfully they left the teeth version from the dark world in the past.

I prefer the sleeveless EG look from this movie. I might try and pick up the bigger arms and headsculpt from this and put them on my IW body.

Thor (Deluxe Version) Sixth Scale Figure by Hot Toys

$345 Deluxe Edition, $305 Collector Edition. GTFO. Glad I don't fancy this one...
What are the chances that the secret "additional accessory" is something substantial and is bumping up the price? I'm sure that's just wishful thinking on my part but it's just weird to me that the Cad Bane Deluxe is coming in at $55 less and has a whole mini-figure included with it.

I‘ll probably skip this one, as that head sculpt just seems like a tired old retread. So I’ll probably only be getting the Mighty Thor from this film.

Currently my favourite one in my collection is the IW version, and I’ve also got the DW and AOU Thor’s.

But my next Thor will probably be whatever 1/2 scale statue or bust that Queen Studios does eventually.

Dammit why couldn't they have made an Avengers 2012 2.0 for Endgame. The window has passed. While not necessarily my favourite hairstyle he had I'm trying to be consistent with what I already have - Iron Man Mark VII, Hulk and Captain America 2012 2.0 - all from the original Avengers film.

I guess that additional accessory is a ''spoiler'' I'm expecting something meaningful.

Austano

Sweet baby Odin ! So many Thor figures, happy I'm not collecting him lol happy with new one and definitely gonna get the one is his ''civilian clothes'' if they'll do it.

The price definitely isn't pretty, but won't be able to say no to this as such a colorful contrast/good bookend to the past Thor figures, especially the last couple almost-solid-black costumes. The helmet looks goofy in the trailers, in a way where they might even realize it and are playing it up visually for the laugh, but for some reason it seems to work unironically great on the figure.

Right?! When i was collecting all the photos for comparison i was like damn. I didn't realize he had so many versions made.

I can't decide if I love or hate the look. No way I preorder this one anyway. Will wait to see the movie and secret accessory before deciding.

Yeah I think some of the earlier figures neeed 2.0's. Not only A1 Thor 2.0, but I would've liked to see BW and Hulk too.

Because it's probably not true.

Someone pointed out that he previously said that the sculpt was an updated one but then deleted his comment on Instagram. It's updated in the sense that they added a little baby scar by his eye and it has "new paint".

I just did this comparison using my AOU Thor. Looks like I'll be keeping him. Was always pretty happy with him anyway.

A new improved headsculpt might have got me to change but as it stands, at these prices......ummm no thanks.

Like Holo posted, Black/Gold fur look is the only Thor I’d consider. There’s at least three other characters from the movie that would be far more interesting shelf additions.

Also, nitpick here, but can we get the thread title updated to specify that this is to discuss the Hot Toys?

Probably has to do with them reusing sculpts and arms from a 7 year old figure while charging $350 for it.

Good joke Hot Toys. Onto the next.
HT's been getting greedier and greedier with every release, that is true. At least InArt's now here to push them a bit with their DC releases, but they keep playing it safe with their MCU offerings. Their MK was the last straw for me.

Trust me, it's not just you. Hot Toys thinks if they throw some squiggly plastic on a figure that makes it worth the price (That goes for you too, Electro!). They're like "Oh, but the hammer lights up too!" Yeah, well who gives a crap? I'm not gonna tell my friends when they come by, "Hey, hold on for half an hour while I open up my cabinets and futz with the lights on all these figures. Oh wait, make that an hour because the batteries died in sone of them."
Said no one ever.
Exactly. The glamour's gone. I'm very rarely "wowed" anymore. It's too much, from every front. The same characters, the same swallow flicks; everything's lost their shining. All the pleather and banal outfits don't help, even if we're talking solely for the figures themselves.

I've been collecting Hot Toys for almost 12 years now and I was particularly drawn in by the amazing head sculpts and incredible engineering. Hot Toys made some great strides and significant improvements up until around Age of Ultron or so and I feel they've kind of stagnated from there. Years ago, nothing compared to Hot Toys quality, but now you've got statue manufacturers (some of whom now employ some of the better sculptor that worked for Hot Toys in the past) producing higher quality products. Hot Toys is less impressive because there's better stuff out there now.
Back when I first saw these things, a decade and some change ago, I was blown away by the realism, and then they kept improving. Now they've hit a sort of ceiling, and whether that's because there's nothing more to be done or because they don't care, I'm losing interest. Enough to abandon it completely? No, I have a completionist streak so I need my absolutes at the very least. But the things that drew me in, the realistic headsculpts, the great tailoring, they're becoming less common with every release, and we're drowning in cheap pleather. Sometimes I feel as if I'm collecting Hasbro figures...

Oh well, it's helping me save money and curate my collection more carefully.

I'd probably get Ravager Thor to go with my GotG collection, so long as the head sculpt was good and the price wasn't ridiculous, but this one I have no interest in.

For Lady Thor it'll depend on both how much I like her character in the movie and how well the figure turns out.

Is the chest plate and gold arms one separate piece? How in the hell do you swap the chest
