I don't get the argument that DX-07 had two figures at a lower price. It was a decade ago. Those who turn their head for this reason should look at a standard regular HT figure that they bought within the last 6 months. That's what this should be compared to. If you compare this to DX-07, then you should compare every trooper or character at this era to the similar prices of 2010.

Second, I never liked BD headsculpt. I chased after DX-07, but always dreamed of using non-BD headsculpt. The DX-25 headsculpt is far more resembles MH than DX-07.

Regarding reused parts, I think HT knows most DX-07 owners would skip this (I would if I had one), they are mainly releasing this for those who missed DX-07. Upgraders will be few in number. So, they might have considered there's no need to go for full R&D on this figure.
Why should we look at it like a standard regular figure? Its labelled as a DX.

Charge 500 and give us a second battle damaged figure again. Make it at least feel different from a regular release.

Because there's a decade between them. Asking 500USD for a double figure set has some logic. "They should give us 2 figures for 350" do not though.
If you want to compare prices, use DX Darth Maul Solo, not a figure released 10 years ago.

"Yeah, but I can get a 65" 4K TV cheaper today than I could get a 42" HD TV 10 years ago" is the mentality.

It’s bananas that we’re going to see $300 for standard figures by the end of this year. Inflation is still going up, raw materials increasing in price, no chance a basic figure from Hot Toys is less than $300 by the winter.
I don't even think it is inflation. When the effects of both the war & the pandemic fade away, prices will go
down back to normal (won't they?), only that 1/6 prices won't.

Prices will never come down back to "normal". That is called deflaction and it is a very dangerous timebomb for the economies.

Yes, I agree, but even Boba 2 pack is more of a “DX” than this yet it isn’t one. They just add the DX logo to whatever they want now. Theres no difference between both Ahsoka figures, yet one is a DX and the other isn’t.

If they want to label this a DX then they need to add a sense of value, because this doesn’t provide any. It’s supposed to be a more premium release yet this is just a standard barebones release with a foam insert box.

They are not going to go down. hot toys will cease 1/6 production before they would ever lower prices.

That's a valid argument. My reaction was comparing DX-24/25 price to DX-07.
For instance, DX-24 is 285 USD. Bo-Katan is also 185 USD. I understand arguments against DX labeling, but not against pricing.
For DX-25, two additional accessories aren't worth +60 USD. That's also I agree.

I never mentioned anything about the price difference. Just a joke dude.

I have DX07 and won't be getting this. Face sculpt looks a bit better but DX07 has weather vane, severed hand/stump arm and those things are great. I never look at the face anyway when there's a stump arm. This new set looks overrated, overpriced. I guess in 2022 the world can't handle a bloody stump on a figure.

It's a weird portrait for sure -- at some angles in some lighting it looks dead on, then it just sort of disappears for me in other photos. Still better than DX07 ... well maybe not the BD, that one was awesome even though the paint is outdated now.
I can't see any reason for the dx07's paintwork to be classified as outdated.
Why is that?

Yeah, if anything I would say that Hot Toys' paintwork is less good now than it was then. I got the Endgame Captain America and feel it is a step down from the previous Captain America sculpts I've had in the paint department.

I already upgraded my DX07 with a new sculpt but I’m still getting this anyway. I like variety and each head sculpt can be used for different scenes. For those looking for one definitive Luke it doesn’t exist. You’d have to have parts from all the releases to make an ultra Luke that was versatile enough for any scene imaginable.

DX-07 had the most value of any set. Even back when it was released people were surprised at how low the price was at a time when prices were already creeping to $175 and up. People will always have opinions on what you should and shouldn’t get. It’s your money. Spend it how you see fit. Most people that mock others purchases are just trying to collectively justify why they shouldn’t buy something.

Personally I'm glad it's not an old school DX with all the bells and whistles, as I wouldn't have wanted to pay more than $300 for this thing anyway.

To my eyes there's a flatness to the paintwork on figures like DX07 and DX04 ... which is not to say they 'suck' -- they're very good -- but more recent paint jobs I've seen tend to display a more realistic texture and depth, maybe due to micro-fine stippling or something, whatever it is they don't seem as 'airbrushed'. Now that being said, I don't know that's consistent across the board with every single release, as below there seems to be an issue:

I've only ever owned the original A1 Cap, so I can't speak for those paint jobs. Maybe they're not consistent. :dunno

^^^This. Even with recent figures it’s pretty clear how much more detail/depth/texturing the paint has on the sculpts. One quick example that comes to mind is the first ROTJ Luke vs the later Endor Luke, the paintwork is noticeably more detailed on the Endor version even though it only came out what, one year after the Jedi Luke?

So this is how I have had my DX-07 displayed for several months (which tells you what I think of the sculpt). I even tried the clean sculpt with the Bieber haircut to change it up a bit. It was good for it's time but I will most likely double-dip on the DX-25--I love the new bases and MH sculpt, to go with the old accessories from the 07. I think I just cannot resist and OT Luke in my collection, HT alone gets me there all the time dang it!
