This was news to me, but DaFoe said that people complained about the Goblin helmet from the first one. I don't remember even hearing anything about that and I thought the Goblin mask was frightening.

Yeah when it came out there were some complaints about the giant action figure quality of the suit and helmet and the fact that you really couldn’t seem him talking when he was talking. I think the complaints faded a bit over time though.

I remember sitting in the theater and cringing at the scenes with DaFoe talking while wearing the mask and bobbing his head around to overcompensate for the mask being static. Looked like an episode of Power Rangers where the villain and Ranger footage is all dubbed.

I love that mask, it was so emotive and I wish they went with that route. I remember them saying that they thought it was be too scary for the general audience though.

Instead we get green Power Ranger villian costume. Dafoe's performance in SM1 really saved that character/outfit. It would have just been so awesome to have seen him give life to this original creepy design.

I thought I read they ruled that goblin face out not because it was too scary but because, with the animatronics and everything, it was too much “goblin monster” instead of “goblin mask”.

Well the point of that scene with Kang was that was a variant that stopped the multiversal war, but in his total power he isolated himself and it drove him insane. I expect to see a much different Kang in Antman3.

I can't get my head around Loki getting sent back to the TVA, Mobius doesn't recognize Loki and Kang the Conqueror has a statue there as they see the multiverse branching. Time doesn't matter in the TVA and perhaps The Conqueror got there years ago but the TVA structure and personnel was left unchanged. I don't think there is any variant TVA as it exists in it's own then can enter any branch. Very confusing with you know, the infinite amount of possibilities.
That version of Kang was clearly their take on Immortus and it was just a bad performance; period. If they ruined Immortus, the wise and old version of Kang, like that, then I shudder to think how awful their Kang will be. I went back to see Majors in other films to get a gauge of him, and he just tries to immitate Denzel's outbursts. That theatre scene in "The Last Black Man In San Fran" was embarassing. He was more reserved in "Hostiles", but I've seen nothing that indicates that he can pull off a supergenius conqueror. He seems like a likeable guy, but he's not talented enough to pull off Kang. And, I'll be honest, he just doesn't have the look. It's the one recent casting choice I legitimately hate. Kang needs someone like Bale or a theatrical Brit in general; same as Doom. It's honestly sad too that the one guy known for having tons of variants will not have any of the such because then it'll be called "POC Erasure" or whatever. It irks me too because you know they'll do the inevitable Rama-Tut scene where Egypt looks like Ghana, because Current Hollywood.

My plan's to get the dolly when it's made, as the costume bellow the neck looks accuratre, then put a Bale head from some TDK figure on top of it and call it a day. Kang's inspired by Alexander, the Pharaohs and the general era of the antiquity. That's the kind of person I have in my mind, and I can't get over it. I wouldn't have minded a MENA actor at all, like Alexander Siddig, but whatever, it is what it is.

I think the guy playing Namor looks right for the part. Not a fan of Jonathan Majors as Kang though, his hyper overacting in Loki didn't work for me.
I wouldn't say he looks the part, that's one of my complaints really; he's too old and regular looking. Especially with his mustache; he looks like your neighbour down the lane who's inviting you for a Saturday BBQ. However, there are pics of him where he looks like an arrogant and smug ****, and that's a quality Namor needs, so I'm still open to it. As long as they don't lean on some representation ******** and it just so happens that it's a bunch of Ancient Mayans who went underwater and have a civillization there somehow, and the performances and suits are well-made, I'll not be mad.

I doubt they'll put even 1/10th of the care Gibson put into Apocalypto, but they could come up with some pretty interesting designs. I suppose it depends on whether they go for some Sci-Fi take or not. We'll see I suppose.

And to stay on topic, God, can't they just go ahead and show something? I'm more concerned about the price than anything at this point. Although I do think they should have a DaFoe HS with both releases (if they do make two GGs). It'll be a pretty tough pill to swallow if they ask 400$ for Raimi GG and he has no HS. Maybe give this one a smug expression and go for a full-blown maniacal laugh for the Final Battle one. Whatever, it's close enough now I suppose, we just have to wait.

GTFO with this nonsense. Jonathan Majors is the greatest actor of our generation and has even surpassed Tom Cruise.

The embargo on NWH figures has succeeded in diminishing my enthusiasm for figures from the film. I'm trying to stop my impulse purchases as I look to liquidate a whole bunch of Infinity War and Endgame stuff and re-focus back to exclusively Star Wars (bad timing with the BoBF train wreck, I know) :)

Here's your wise being at the end of time bro!

You can just feel the Philosopher King vibes radiate from him!

God, I hate this casting... I'm retaining some small hope that we'll see other actors suit up as Kang Variants, but I'm not holding my breath.

Same here. But it's bound to happen with all of these pop culture properties. At least that's the pattern I've noticed myself follow. There are lots of things I'm itching to get one minute, then some time passes and I'm left relatively cold towards them. Like I've said before, a lot of it comes down to completionism, and few are the figures I truly want in every sense of the word. So, in a way, I'm glad HT takes their time putting up POs, because I can let myself cool off and think things through. Granted, I've drawn up a general list about everything I want, regardless of if they're likely to get figures or not, but sometimes I find myself looking at the figure and crossing off because it's just not essential. And in this hobby, you have to stick with the essentials.

I hope he does have the HS, because that is a really cool looking figure and the version I'd rather get.

So the MCU was just an adolescent phase? I knew it!!! Trash! All of it! Harrison Ford was right!

I'm hanging onto my Endgame Hot Toys for the most part...for now. Space is just so tight and I've got to make some choices... According to my wife, I'm still in some sort of adolescent phase... :)

I don't often think about how it looks to the outside world, as I don't consider this hobby all that weird, but sometimes I stare at a figure and I realise I'm standing in a room full of boxes containing plastic dolls of musclemen which cost about 1/3rd of a grand each, minimum, while the vast majority of the world considers even basic toys after 10 YOs weird; and it just feels surreal. Then I shrug it off and go think of better displays. Everyone knows we ought to cut down, but rarely do we have the strength to do it properly.

I like to think of the craftsmanship on these figures. It really feels like each figure is a great achievement that only magical Chinese wizards can conjure up. Each one is a piece of art unlike the modern trash you see at galleries.
