This was one of those Grace Slick’s songs that I could not tolerate so I’m thankful that the trailer was able to tone down her ear piercing vocals from that song and it worked perfectly for the tone they were going for.
Really? White Rabbit is THE song that put her & Jefferson Airplane/Starship on the map. I can understand getting tired of hearing it but it's still iconic. I honestly can't remember any of their other songs lol...

Everything you just said is……

Accurate!

Nonetheless her vocals on that song pierce my skull lol

Other than the story, the first Matrix also used the bullet time effect very well that majority would associate it with scenes from the movie. While the technology wasn't really new, it somehow brought it to mainstream that it felt new. I was in awe seeing those bullet time scenes and for me, the sequels didn't offer anything new that it somehow felt lacking in the visual effects.

One thing no one can question on the Wachowskis is action. They might be the best directors of action I have ever seen. If they just got the philosophical stuff turned down some, imagine them doing a Dr. Strange movie. Drop acid to that movie.

Lucas thought TPM was going to be king.

Matrix arrived on the scene and immediately made TPM its ***** lol

A lot of classic movies in '99. Fight Club, The Mummy, American Pie, Office Space, The Sixth Sense.

Its one of those songs I always associate with Viet Nam movies.
:lol

Meanwhile Viet Nam vets when the song plays...

It made me so happy in 1999.
You were ahead of the curve with the Lucas hatred.

I wasn't even aware of the Matrix and SW rivalry, but it was surprising to see Matrix win the Oscar for special effects and the instant impact of Matrix on pop culture by the year 2000.

If I remember correctly Matrix, SW, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Spiderman, X-Men, Pirates...etc coexisted in pop culture from 2000-2005, without any comparisons or rivalries among the fanbases like there seems to be nowadays with Marvel and DC, perhaps because they were all different, but the Matrix influenced was there in those other franchises without question, especially in the action genre, but even Pirates used the bullet time.

For a minute there, the Matrix made all other action films and SW look and feel outdated. I remember in 2003 when Terminator 3 was coming out wondering if it could reclaim its "throne" in the action genre, since I thought T2 was the best action film of all time. I definitely remember thinking, "I hope the T 800 doesn't do martial arts Matrix style", so yeah, the influence was still there. Matrix sure was a game changer, like a proto superhero movie using technology to allow the characters to do the things only possible in the comics and cartoons. Then we got Spiderman and his CGI body dodging things and other superhero films with characters breaking the laws of physics. Today we have lots of rubber Neos in movies.

Something this film won't be, unfortunately. Well, at best, it could be the first reboot/remake that does it correctly, unlike ....SW. Oh boy, the irony, if that happens 20 years later.

As we speak, somewhere out there, James Cameron is working on his Avatar sequel.

The little Indian girl, right. Damn it. Can programs grow old?
I don't see why not; they can have children.

One of those scenes that takes its time, but I always found it comfy. With R&R, I just settle in and enjoy living in that world for a few hours. It's not a tight, self-contained narrative like the first, but the ideas have merit IMO. Hopefully Resurrections will be at least as good.
