Yeah that’s what really helped create the video rental stores like Blockbuster. They could buy the expensive VHS tapes and rent them out for a couple of bucks each week. It wasn’t until they got down to about $20 did families start buying them. I believe Clue (another Lloyd film) was one of the first and it gained cult classic status as a result of being affordable.

Yeah those dogs look excellent. Einstein would be OK if Hot Toys didn't try to be so cute and add articulation to the head.

Looks like a bloody frilled neck lizard ! (that's for you Aussies out there !! ).

The for-rental unit prices were way higher than the consumer prices. Imagine what those prices are equivalent to in today's dollars. I remember ANH's VHS release in 1982... staggeringly expensive. I think the prices came down so fast mostly because VCRs became so common so incredibly fast and people figured out how to copy them (and even get around later stuff like copyguard.) I had a ton of taped VHS movies (Godfather was one of the first) even by 1983.

What was it that prompted this massive new outpouring of BTTF love from HT? Not an anniversary or anything.

Ordered the deluxe since my BTTF 1 Marty looks lonely without him. Saving $0.85 a day to get it doesn't feel like too much of a burden. That's if it comes out when predicted.

I think since the last anniversary there has been an increase in merch, Zavvi have 193 items, more than in the previous 20 years combined probably and maybe that spurred them on.

So with Marty being ready to ship Mid September for the limited 600 batch, I wonder if this will be mass done along side docs 2023 date.

Just paid for my Marty so will have it in hand by end of September. I reckon Docs sculpt will be tweaked given its slated for 2023.
2023 is crazy.

Also PO'd the Doc DX... I do not need another Marty with crap-tastic fake looking dog...sheesh HT your animal sculpts are WEAK...(looks at Ripley's faux cat with disgust)

I just dont see what makes this $290 with that case. Marty at $285 also seems sky high for what you are getting. You can attribute it to inflation if you like but it seems like more than that to me.

2020 is the 35th anniversary of BTTF.. and Bob Gale the creator encourage fans to celebrate it full year long until this end of the year. There's a musical theatre in UK showing right now among other merchandises released.

I totally forgot about Alter Ego - I had reward points saved up! Got the deluxe for $240 + free shipping! Can not beat that now.
