So you did they full dye option... dang, I was hoping for an easy-out :(

My SSC with custom robe is, for me, hard to beat - but I'm a sucker for HT, and loved the proto pics. Such a shame it turned out so appallingly.

That's one solid looking Jawa. :clap The eyes on Sideshow's are really great.

If the heads were compatible I would have swapped, but I did prefer the stability of the Hot Toys body in the end.

The eyes on the Jawas in Mando S2E1 are red, so I guess those Offword Jawas migrated to Tatooine.

Thanks dude. I actually did the rhinestone "mod" since that photo and it looks amazing. 2.5mm gold. Any time of day/night, and level of light, it works a treat.

A question for those who have this set (and haven't stuck gems over the eyes) -- how do the electronics hold up for you?

I just got the Jawa last week, and with both the batteries that came in the box and a pair I borrowed from a BB-8/BB-9E set, the eyes light up fine at first but get dimmer and dimmer over the following few minutes until they're barely visible. I haven't had a chance to buy totally fresh batteries yet, but figured that before I do, I should ask if it's likely to actually fix things, or if this is just what the eyes do no matter what batteries are installed.

(I know there are a lot of complaints about these guys, but I actually really like them apart from the eye brightness thing.)

Thanks!

That was my experience as well. Got very dim very quickly and I haven't bothered to replace the batteries yet so unsure if that'll happen next time as well.

Jawas in episode 2 are in Tatooine so they have yellow eyes. Only offworld Jawas have red eyes.

The Tatooine Jawas in episode 1, in the Cobb Vanth flashback scene, have red eyes, then yellow eyes in episode 2. It?d be interesting to hear the reason why this is, especially with regards to Tatooine.

I had picked up a Jawa display stand as I wanted the black base, and a TFA Han Solo snow base for my JL Superman figure. I had noted the snow base is the same shape as the Jawa mud plastic shell, as it fits inside it.

Surprised this hasn't ended up in the Sideshow bargain bin yet.

And if it meets that fate anytime soon, that may extinguish any hope for another "set". You can bet HT is paying attention to how these move before proceeding with any more. And honestly, after this one, that's all right. It looks okay, but I'd say SSC won this round.

Another look at the HT one in the wild...

Body aside, in the end the only thing I thought was an improvement on this figure vs the Sideshow Jawa was the lined texture on the robe, and to a lesser extent the no-seam hood.

If they could have gotten that lined texture on the Sideshow fabric it would be the only Jawa you needed. Truly unfortunate that for the huge price this HT Jawa couldn't have just been a 100% home-run (or at least 90%.) Instead it actually had more problems than the Sideshow version.

Took me a huge amount of work to bring it up to the level I was happy with it, and even then I see that wonky color and the puffy inner hood every time I look at it.

The Jawa in your picture looks sad people keep saying they want him in the (bargain) bin.
Thing is I don’t think the figures look bad. It’s just that for $270 the set seems way overpriced. Should have been $240 tops, and even that’s high. We got charged a premium seemingly because it’s more of a niche character.

So this set is usually over ?300 in Europe. Now it?s on sale for ?259... should I buy it? Even if I prefer the SSC Jawas I?m still tempted- since it?s a jawa and gonk... is the Gonk ok?
