My guess is they didn't include females due to them having a bit of visual similarity to a Muslim burqa. Several articles in the past month have pointed up the parallels between Sand People and Arab tribesmen and that Mando's sympathetic and more nuanced portrayal was "righting a wrong" that was present in the OT in how Sand People were depicted. Given that, I don't think Disney would want to see Tusken females in Mando - just too risky it'll be taken the wrong way.

Ah of course. Makes sense. Of course, I had the same thought when I made my custom. Understandable.
And female Tuskens have earlier been described as wearing the same clothes as the men in some ?tribes?, so guess it still makes sense with the lore.

I?d guess that the scarfs are due to the heads/helmets being smaller in the PT, leaving more of the neck visible.

The jump-off point for the clothing is logical given they're desert-dwelling humanoids but ... ah well. That's a fraught hill to die on.

They have yet to bring complex and nuanced interpretations for the enlisted personnel of the Empire that the heroes consistently slaughter with a clean conscience. :lecture

Finn doesn't count. First thing he did was slaughter his brothers and sisters with a clean conscience.

(Yes I know systemic power imbalances explain why Tusken Raiders are oppressed and Space Nazi Imperial Stormtroopers are not.)

Looks good to me, but I would have preferred to see a 2 pack with 2 different heights of raiders, like the OT Stormtrooper, along with more accessories or a campfire diorama

I don't have an SS version and I highly doubt that SS will ever re-release theirs, so I've got no choice but to pick this one up (most likely a pair).

This is one figure that is going to get a high level of weathering, though.

Apart from looking a little clean I think they look fine. Really hoping they make a Kuiil figure soon.

Agreed, only problem would be the $500 price for a 2 pack. The figures are so expensive now a 2 pack isnt really an option for normal 1/6 releases. If this was $195 i would be down for 2 no question though.

Well, I guess many people will gonna pray that Mando crosses path with Death Star Gunner, Snowtrooper, Enfys Nest, Bespin Han, Asajj, and of course Jar Jar.

Meh...the ss is better. I think we all would have preferred the anh version. The outfit is too tailored and clean. Oh well, I guess it saves me money. I will buy one to hang with my ss. If it was an out of the park anh version, I would have bought a squad. It is not hot toys fault, it is how the tuskens were on the show.

The mandalorian needs Death Star trooper appearances!!!!

I don?t understand with all the officers we can?t get an officer. And trooper figures!

Love the detailed head, love the forearm wraps, love the gear. But that overly clean and un-tattered robe and lower hem is no beuno.

Yes, no competition really. But I guess they looked like this in Mando. The narrow head and small close sitting eyes just aren?t as cool as the old version.

Quite the difference, that SS head is really damn near perfect. I hoped this would turn out better, or closer to the ANH Tusken in terms of the head sculpt at least.

Really hope they make ANH versions eventually but seems they'll be in no hurry with these on the horizon.

Still, will definitely grab at least one and two might be tempting given the bandolier and weapon options.

Clean Tusken goes with clean Jawa.

Yeah i really don't know why they never seem to do weathering fabrics ?

I guess weathering on plastic moulded parts can be tampon-transfered on with minimal labour at relatively high speed. Material is maybe a different story and they apparently are not prepared to do this manually by human painter ??

Perhaps they also can't guarantee the the same weathering on every figure. Not that should be a huge issue. Although I'm sure someone would complain.

Bottom line it probably comes back to cost in the end.

I just checked and I could have sworn the SS had real material bandage around the head. But it is in fact plastic.

Good job Sideshow ! Fooled me.

I managed to find the sideshow some years after it came out and I’m glad. I will probably pick one of these up as well
