Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

I still can't believe that Yon Rogg isn't up for PO yet. That sculpt is insane.

Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

Could be anything what with everything going on in the world right now. Maybe HT upped their wholesale pricing and BBTS is trying to get back some of that money?

Sideshow is the US distributor so BBTS gets their figures from them. They're selling it at $260 and also giving 5% rewards. I know they charge more for shipping but the extra $15+4 is close enough. Plus other shops have it for $260.

I think this looks like Hiddleston, it's just not a not a mischievous expression like the first one. Really cool for those that missed out or sold the original and want him again. I think it's a cool release, though I'm out of collecting Avengers figures.

Probably a combination of covid-19 and them trying to make sure they get some money from previous canceled orders. They used to not have an NRD, and the HT figures were at a small discount (I believe retail shops were allowed to give an 8% discount). Ppl used to PO a lot from BBTS b/c of no cancellation fees which led to BBTS having to pretty much throw money at you to buy their remaining stock. I mean they still have a few old HT figures with $100-$150 BBTS store credit attached to them and they still can't get rid of them.

I do understand that a bit, but it seemed like they actually cleared all their stock of FO troopers finally in the last 6 months. Maybe they're jacking the price to recoup their credit they were giving to people too.

Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

The helmet looks ridiculous in proportion... I don't remember the original looking this wonky.

Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

It's huge on his head. The head itself has been sculpted with thinner hair on the sides to accommodate the helmet, and it throws the overall likeness off.

Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

Honestly I think ragnarok has the better likeness, especially with the helmet because it hides the thin jaw line. I prefer the avengers costume but not the way it has been executed here...

Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

Can never have enough Loki!!
Definite pre order for me.

Now....if Hot toys are revisiting figures....how's about a Red Skull from both IW/Endgame??
Loved that look in the film, and no,i don't want that 3rd party knock off.lol

Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

Once again there seems to be a 50/50 split here regarding this new Loki figure...and usually if there's dispute or disagreement then it means HT churned out another disappointment...because let's be honest here, if this one was a home run then the praise would be unanimous. It may not be awful, but it's certainly not good.

I'm in the camp that thinks this latest release stinks...but that's just me. I guess I'll never own a Loki, oh well...

Ah I think that's what's throwing off the likeness for me too. Their solution to the helmet and head for this figure seems like they compromised both on the hair and the helmet. Maybe they should have done a replaceable hairpiece with the helmet like the rotj luke.

Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

I think the BBTS pricing might be a bigger deal than being discussed.

I believe the BBTS HT price increase started with the Wonder Woman releases? Or even the 40th ESB Star Wars figures? It’s fairly recent. They will increase the price on older in-stock figures that are sold out elsewhere, but increase on POs is something very new. They are probably the biggest US seller outside of SSC.

Just a theory, but I think SSC could be charging BBTS more. BBTS is cheaper to go through. BBTS has been selling out instantly for their POs, quicker than other US shops. It seems like SSC was taking a hit on POs and decided to end it. I mean, it’s a big coincidence that the figures are $15-20 more now from BBTS, which was about what you saved going through them.

Now, I don’t see why you would PO from BBTS because I believe SSC is the better option now with the RPs.

Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

The head and neck on this are just too thick, it makes the face look small. Hiddleston has a longer thin face, kinda like Keanu. That's the main issue with the sculpt, if they thinned and stretched it some, it'd be much better.

I also wish they would just make a sculpt with a permanent, non removable helmet, it would look so much better.

That's probably waiting to debut on the anniversary of a completely unrelated movie that people are highly anticipating Hot Toys figures from just to really piss those people off.

:exactly:

Two head sculpts, one with the helmet permanently attached and one without the helmet, would be the only solution to maintain accurate proportions on both. There's no way to make the helmet removable from the HS without compromising one or the other, and ironically, this release appears to compromise both.

Sadly, when it comes to exceeding expectations, this seems to be HT's new normal. :slap

Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

Well I caved and picked this up. Felt nice ordering a marvel figure after sooo many Star Wars. Even though it?s not perfect, this is the definitive outfit imo and will look great with armored Thanos and Hela

Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

I went ahead and ordered 1 just because I always liked Loki in his full attire. The AV Loki looks more vibrant but the EG looks better as far as tailoring goes. Either way I cant wait to compare both of them. The head sculpt is better in the original though. I'm hoping Hot Toys didn't lose their best head sculptors because the new Ant Man was terrible, and this Loki face is okay, its not bad but for a company thats all about detail, its a letdown for sure.

Re: Avengers: Endgame - 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure

The sculpt isn't even good on the Hot Toys version. Not to the mention the proportion of his face to his helmet is terrible.

And what is up with the terrible paint work on his gold metallic armor parts? Why is it so matte and dark looking? It's suppose to be gold and saturated.

Not sure what Hot Toys is doing these days..

Yeah my eye immediately went to the helmet, face is too small for the helmet or the helmet is too big for the head

Yeah. This is what is throwing off a lot of people.
For me, i see a *lot* of Hiddleston in the sculpt(Way more than the original one, which has always bugged me about such an iconic piece). And the helmet is just a compromise, but i'll take it.
Like you say, if they made a separate hairpiece it *could* work. But where would you hide the seam when his hair is pulled back like that? It would be tough, and would look like one of those horrible SS heads with separate hair, lol.
This will work. You'll never notice how big his lid is when it's on.
