Not hard to make a smaller base for the speeder. Even a bit of thick Perspex with a hole in it would be enough to create a floating effect. You can buy that online cut to size with hole as well in Europe. Must be someone similar in US too I'd say.

Or just wait and see what Cocoloco comes up with for a real sand look no doubt.

Since the base is huge, especially for DX16, you can consider making a smaller figüre base to be in line with other SW figures.

I think a smaller base would be ideal for most of us. One for Maul/Maul and Droid and one for the speeder/speeder and Droid or one for Maul, one for the speeder and one for the Droid. So many options with this set.

For the prices we pay for these I really don’t understand why Hot Toys can’t include a regular stand in the box. These big stands take up too much room.

Very nice shot. Looks well rendered, but not like Park. Looks more like his "brother" from the Clone Wars show. What was his name? Savage Odor or something like that?

Anyway...great shot, sharp looking figure.

I really think that Sideshow head looks boring in comparison

I agree. HT has more detail and way more accurate tattoo design. SSC is still a good head especially the eyes and accuracy of colors but I prefer the HT better.

Tattoos on the HT look a bit smooshed together compared to the film — talking about the ones in the middle of the forehead. So even if more accurate than SS in one sense the spacing seems more correct to me on the SS. Think they just made his forehead too small.

That picture of the SSC’s tats is pretty damn accurate to the movie but the one I have the tattoos look way too thin and kinda off. Oh well. Lol.

The goal posts keep changing all the time - depending on reference photos! :)

The thing that blows me away in this comparison shots is that the SSC looks like a photo of a person in make-up, whereas the HT clearly looks like a toy (the eyes and embossed tats).

Yeah the tattoos are definitely more exaggerated and take up much more of the face on the HT figure. Which is kind of surprising that they'd get it so wrong.

I'm okay with a more stylized Maul myself, since I think the overall quality makes up for it, but the SS does appear to be a lot more accurate.

Im getting sick of those keep bragging their SS Maul is far more "accurate & superior", there has been already a SS thread outthere dedicated solely for your fanclub.

SS Maul is superior.. :ccheerlea ...... :woo

:monkey3

I don't think anyone ever argued the SS Maul didn't look good. At least the head sculpt. It's the rest that's the problem. And the price was downright laughable.

I get defending your "investment" in trying to talk up the SS version, but in no way was I ever gonna pay $240 for that. No matter how good the likeness was. And I (and others) said it before, Maul is one of those figures where I'd prefer an idealized version than screen accurate. Maybe the only SW character in fact.

I'll have this HT Maul any and every day over the SS version. I just gotta decide which (Speeder or no Speeder) and when to finally buy it...

SS MAUL was $240?? I didn’t know!! Didn’t it just come with a generic stand?? :lol

I saw you previous post.... :nono

:lol Not sure why you removed it.

If you were lucky to get the SS exclusive, it did come with a 2nd severed beautifully toy looking plastic lightsaber. :yess: At least that one wasn't crooked like so many of the SS reviewers double bladed saber.

I still have my original inclusive edition v1 SS Maul and the probe droids that I still have never opened. Both of those combined I think were $100. So I had plenty of accessories to put with the SS v2. I just couldn't justify that price. I even saw it in person at Disney World last year. It is impressive, but not worth the asking price. And from what we've seen from photos, the SS re-release head has far worse paint apps than the initial release. It now has a $20 off coupon on SS. Guess they know it's gonna hang around now with the HT release.

I’m not defending my SS purchase. I had it for a bit last year or more ago, sold it, and have the HT Maul on order.

But the HT isn’t better in all facets. So I was surprised to read that the tattoos were more accurate, which when looking at it didn’t really appear true. And I agree with Mandible that the SS v2 (v1) does really look like a person with paint on, which is indeed impressive. Anyhow, looking forward to the HT fig. For anyone keeping track I went for the deluxe even though I’m still not sure I give a **** about the speeder.

Good for you, that guy was apparently just so stupid to dump the gem, the superior definitive Maul for half a price, and blindly getting the inferior Hot Toys version with outrageously expansive price :).
