I actually wanted to cry.

Since I will be leaving. I will share this.

I immigrated to the US in 1976. I couldnt speak English then, and there was this bad boy who took care of me, shielded me from bullies. We were closer than brothers.

Once we were talking about Mego Trek figures. We didnt have money to buy any then, and he mentioned some day he would have money, and he would buy me the figures. I watched him die in front of me 2 days after that.

This is why I pour my heart and soul into them, and this is why I always extend my hand when i see someone needs help, and this is why I am so protective of my people.

This is why I always say I hope those who have the figures could remember who they were when they were young.

I was saying before...a 1/6 scale manufacturer can buy factories, tools, sculptors, and artists...but passion cannot be simply bought and paid for...it's either there or it isn't. When someone brings passion to a project it trumps all of the other elements every time. I am sure some folks from QMX will have to realize that the passion that you bring is irreplaceable and needs to be retained at any cost.

I really respect that Nanjin, just know and I speak for others I'm sure, that you've never let me down. I have what some would all unreasonably high standards and I've never not been satisfied. Sometimes I'm blown away sometimes I'm merely elated but every time I'm satisfied. You've really done justice to an often neglected franchise and I'm sure the friend you made your promise too would be proud to own the figures you managed to get made, both licensed and unlicensed and that really says something.

I don't think it can be disputed that the best ever Trek figures were delivered by you. I want to believe that you will still somehow some day deliver the best Trek figures ever that have not yet been created.

I don't know enough about things and legalities and bridges not to be burned and such but I'd wager one day long after QMX has not had the license and there is enough distance theres no way why you can't dip your toes into that pool again. at least I'm hoping!

For now, take a much deserved breather and a moment to appreciate what you made possible, I sure as hell appreciate it.

Well said, Ray.

Thanks for sharing this story najin, it’s meaningful for those of us who have been with you through this journey as you mentioned the better part of a decade now and it’s nice to learn something new about the unfounded passion you have had for these figures and as to why it’s always been so important to deliver such high quality accuracy at the most affordable price to all.

It shows what an impact these kinds of things, these franchises characters and stories can have on us as people and how they shape who we become. Art is the most important thing to me in the world and it’s extra special when it’s shared with important people or times in our lives.

Yea sad day for custom 1/6 figures

Nanjin is a true class act. I have known
the guy for a better part of 10years
and he never did this for the money.

When he first started selling the original TOS figures
I think he actually barely broke even after all
The hours to China to source the parts.

I think when you do it for the love of the characters and
then you realized your work is being compromised
be it production or different opinion of what it
takes to make the line successful, you end up
where you are now.

The good news is we got some really amazing
figures from a guy who love the show.

I might buy 2 Scotty just to help the line
but I am not very optimistic it would help
save the ship from the “ No win scenario”

This shows why Kirk, Spock and McCoy figures are so amazing, there is a history with real heart behind their creation ...

Thanks for sharing with us Nanjing:

“Live long, and prosper.”

This is sad. I've been aboard the Nanjin train since his earlier TWOK figures (I have all three) and both his ST09 figures, as well as his non-QMx captain's chair. Everything before and with QMx has been awesome and has definitely put a smile on my face every time I look at them. I look forward to any and all Star Trek figures in the future. I'm a fan forever!

With Sulu having been teased for so long and Uhura likely to be quite popular, I am praying that they at least produce those two figures, although Scotty's performance could be a deciding factor. If they stop at Uhura I'll be disappointed that we came so close to the Big 7. If they stop at Scotty I'll be majorly pissed off. If they commit to Chekov, I'll be satisfied with that at least.

Nanjin, this is tragic news. I am so disappointed that QMX is run by bean-counting morons with no real passion for their product, unlike you. I feel for you. Good luck to you, and hopefully, as time passes and QMX goes out of business, you will be able to acquire the license yourself. Be well, Brother.

A Japanese friend said, I am like a Sushi chef who serve sushi while chatting and enjoying the company of the customers, drinking and laughing while slicing the fish that I personally hand picked and purchased in the fish market while thinking what my customers like to have.

Now, i am told to sit back and watch someone else to do their job, and serve the customers with some random pick items.

The worse thing that could happen to a sushi chef.

Sounds about right. [emoji853]

Well said Ray. Nanjin, you know I have been collecting your wonderful art for many years. I proudly display your exceptional work in many rooms of my home and will sorely miss your passion for this hobby and your sincerity. This hobby could sure use more people like you!

thank you. Remember, I am not an artist. I just the conductor who orchestrated the projects.

A great conductor at that[emoji868]
Nanjin, you will be dearly missed for your effortless willingness to bring Star Trek from the big screen into our homes and hearts. I always enjoyed your positive attitude holding on the front lines of QMx in bringing us another figure that the quality we have not seen before with Star Trek. It was like a breath of fresh air with each and every figure and anticipating the next release.
You will be dearly missed & irreplaceable.
Good luck with your future endeavors!
Carl D.

So what exactly happened? Can you share why the Nanjin/QMx split happened?

I assume QMx is still making Trek figs but without your careful guidance :huh
Simply put. The Quality of 1/6 trek can only go forward. I can improve the figure till the last minute.

I stand my ground firmly for 1/6 Trek.

If Trek goes through someone else, i cant do any of these.

Oh. I see. QMx is changing their production process and you, understandingly, chose to part ways.

I totally understand your position. Good luck bro.

It actually sounds more like they cut him out by instituting a “middle man” between him and the factories, thus eliminating his direct input in QC.

Is more like managing the production through a 3rd person, and I am not able to check the work anytime I want.
