Unfortunately it looks like I'll have to skip collecting exclusives and just buy direct from HK for new releases, where registered air parcel charges are usually in the $30 to 40US range for 1/6 scale, and at times the figures can also be bought under Sideshow's retail.

That's what I do; Studio Sunny is bomb! I think all Australians should do it that way. In some cases even where the total price would be the same as SS (ie. higher item price, lower shipping), you still get the figure a month earlier than if you were to order from SS. I sometimes think I would feel more secure if I PO'd half the stuff from SS, Toys2 etc., but it seems like there is more than enough stock on eBay come the release in HK. (On a side note: was about to click 'Buy It Now' on John Connor last week, then saw the recall on the headsculpts! Phew! Dodged that bullet!)

how can they charge $7.95 for you and almost $20.00 to me for the same figure.thats bull manure! and I know location has a factor in the math, but come on.it wouldnt cost me that much to send a package to sideshow that only weighs 4lbs with tracking and delivery confirmation ,it would cost around $9.00 so I guess the rest of that charge is handling charges.like I said they are making money every way they can.I would rather give my money to a buisness that is willing to give its customers a savings.

If you are in the U.S. it shouldn't be that much--I'm in Texas and my 1/6th figures are usually $7-9 for shipping. Unless you are in California (where you have to pay tax on these online purchases) it shouldn't be that much.

Can you post a screen shot of your latest 1/6 order direct from sideshow? I agree with King, my Dutch shipping charge was $7.86.

I dont get anything from the US companies or shops, i cant be asked with having to pay custom charges on top as well.

With SS you wouldn't pay customs as they are dispatced from the EU warehouse (which is in the UK)

I have already deleted the invoices from my email, but here is what they charged for the predator1,

and this is the shipping qoute for the same figure on my order listed on the site.

Subtotal: $344.98
Tax (Est.): $0.00
Ship (Est.): $9.86
Grand Total: $354.84

and on my order history it says shipping est, for dutch was $7.86 and the amount charged to my card was $164.99 so minus the $149.99 and thats $15.00

Shipping prices seem to be all over the place for me.

Shipping to NY:

Predator - $17.67
Dutch - $10.97
Iron Man Mark II - $17.40
Cobra Commander - $10.87

$10-$11 seems fairly reasonable but $17-$18 is getting a bit too high for my tastes.

I think the prices are usually about right from Cali to Chicago. Although I got a quote for Vader and its about $7 ($15) more than a reg 1/6th. I know he is taller but thats a pretty nice jump.

What are the weights?

According to Sideshow's site:

Predator - 5 lbs
Dutch - 4 lbs
Iron Man Mark II - 4 lbs
Cobra Commander - 3 lbs

I'm practically on their backdoor and a single HT figure is about $9 to ship to me. UPS and FedEx work by zones though, so certain zip codes might be much more than others. And the further away from Southern California and the more rural your address, the more it will cost.

I'm here in Canada and I had to cancel about 3 of my orders due to high shipping costs from SS.

I pay apx. $13 to get HT figures shipped to Seattle and apx. $8 to get SS figures.

I just paid apx. $13 to ship a HT figure all the way to Kansas. :dunno

That sounds reasonable for two figures--it would be like $20 total for shipping if they were shipping separately. And still much cheaper than the prices you get if you try to ship something like that yourself.

It's curious to read you complaining about shipping costs when I have to pay $57 to have a regular 12" figure sent from SS.

Statues come around $75.

Add 18% for taxes on top (this is under EU requirements, not SS)

Now THIS is OUTRAGEOUS

$15 shipping for 2 figures is fair to me.

dont forget the "signature required" option bumps the cost up alot.
for this cost, the driver should ask to see some ID.. but instead they will take a signature from anyone that is at the address you are sending the package.

again only one predator shipped the other one hasnt processed so I will pay $20.00 in the end.

guys $15-$20 is heaven to me. It cost $50 to ship a SS star wars stormtrooper to me in Singapore :(
