The closer this gets to reality the less I find myself wanting it to be made.

So many people down on this movie and we havent even seen a teaser trailer yet lol. I get that as far as video games go we don't have a lot of faithful adaptations to movie form, but lets give it a bit of chance.

TLOU was one of the most cinematic games to come out and while. I'm thinking that if this gets adapted in a semi shot for shot manner, similar to how a lot of Watchmen shots came out, it will be excellent. Yes, Joel and ellie as characters were pretty much perfectly portrayed in the game so its hard to imagine anyone else, but I think so far its off to a decent start.

and those giving comparisons to the road

Can't speak for the book, but the movie had me ready to off myself by the time the kid said the sixth "Daddy no!" Joel and Ellie's relationship was a lot better developed and you got the feeling both characters actually changed as we played. I felt in The Road the characters were pretty flat.
