I actually think most people expected more due to the cool look and the actress playing her. If she comes back I'm sure she will have a bigger part, hunting for Rey perhaps?

I actually think Kylo Ren was very menacing. Unpredictable. I have high hopes that he will return stronger after Snoke completes his training.

Yeah I don't know what it was about Kylo Ren but the more film went on the less convinced I was by him. Don't get me wrong his introduction was superb, best opening to a Star Wars film in my opinion. I do hope Ren vastly improves, I don't understand how easily he was overcome by Rey who has had no training at all. How did you feel about that?

Just finished watching the movie. I really liked it! Smiles from start to finish. Great acting, good strong characters and amazing visuals. Everyone involved did a fantastic job. I'm sure over time the flaws will start to be highlighted with multiple viewings but I can honestly say it was such a great viewing experience. Rey and Finn are the highlights and Kylo is actually a villain we can get behind and believe his story. The story has so much potential to evolve over VIII & IV.

I agree about the introduction! I think it was implied with his rage on the bridge chopping things with his lightsaber and his conversation with Snoke/talking to himself(or talking to vaders helmet) that he was conflicted and not as strong as he could be. Hence Snoke saying he will complete his training.

I actually liked that Rey managed to beat him. He seemed very over confident, and I saw it as part of the movies theme. The Force is awakening in Rey and helping her to beat him, since she is in tune with the Force.

And on another note:

the Air/space battles were very well done. The scene with Finn on the ground and Poe completely owning TIE fighters in the sky was awesome!

Just saw the movie this morning. I really liked it. Much better than I expected too.
I want more star wars now!!!

Now off to buy me some Hot Toys figures!! Haha!!

Yeah during the first Falcon scene I felt slightly emotional. Even with the modern CGI seeing the Falcon in flight still felt very real like it did in the OT. Visually this movie is stunning, overwhelming (in a good way) at times.

Just came back from watching....ahhh, all my feels.
I swear my eyes turned watery just seeing the iconic opening credits. Also, a few scenes certainly got us fans right in the heart.
Going for an IMAX 3D viewing tomorrow.

Better than the prequels'?

Watched it here in the UK last night and I must say I couldn't disagree more about Kylo Ren and how the force is represented.

I won't put any spoilers here but I'm sure so many others will end up feeling slightly short changed, especially the last 30mins.

well, put your thoughts in spoiler tags so we can discuss it. i'd like to know what exactly you so vehemently disagreed with.

After having afew hours to process the movie my favourite moment has to be

Rey using her new found force to regain Luke's lightsaber from the clutches of 'Kylo'. It was such a powerful moment. The fight that followed felt raw and there was a sense of danger there (if that makes sense).

Just got back, and...

It's true, the opening theme and crawl get you right in the feels. You spend about 5 minutes in self aware disbelief that you are watching Star Wars Episode VII.
Poe is a cool character but is missing for most of the film, then spends almost all of his time in an X-Wing.
Max Von Sydow is only in the first ten minutes and gets killed by Kylo Ren.
Captain Phasma - really? She is in it for at most, 3 minutes. Has no personality at all - will probably become a huge fan favorite for years to come.
There's a moment when Han steps into the Falcon's cockpit in silence. I teared up.
Ford doesn't phone in his performance. He puts more effort in here than he has in years. The ultimate scene with Kylo Ren is one of the best scenes in the saga.
Adam Driver is amazing. i was worried he would be a Darth Maul one or two scenes and done villain but he has real depth and presence. His scene with Han on a bridge is heartbreaking. I still can believe they killed Han Solo.
The lightdaber fight at the end was nice and long with real heft to the sabers.
Boyega is good but always yelling and out of breath. I kind of wished he died.
Daisy Ridley is very good in the film, given lots to do.
General Hux is pure cookie cutter moustache twirling British villain, and that's not a bad thing.
Snoke - WHOA. Is he actually that size? I'm talking an 18 inch figure compared to a 6 inch figure.
Luke's teeny tiny scene at the end was very cool and sets up Episode VIII nicely.

The only thing that annoyed, literally the only thing was the overuse of droid and Wookiee speak. We get that characters understand beeps and boops and Wookietalk but it's in almost every scene and grated on me after a while.
After seeing the film, I don't really want any figures. It was very good and I will go again, but now I'm on to next year's comic book amazingness.

Really like that moment too. And the lightsabers felt more like the OT, felt like they had a bit of weight and heft and not the baton twirling from the PT.

Saw it again. Loved it even more. Biggest surprise of the movie? How good Carrie Fisher is in it.
