Terrible head sculpt on every face. Too many forehead wrinkles and the "horns" go out to the side too much. Batman looks old. I had hopes for this one, but the blue version looks much better, actually.

In every one of the Sideshow Batman headsculpts, including the blue costumed version, the nose (or rather, where the nose would be under the cowl) is consistently placed too high on the face. That, to me, is a big part of why he never seems to look right. If you super-imposed a nose where it must logically be under the cowl, he would look like a mutant. The nose--and therefore, the "beak" of the cowl--needs to be lower in all of these headsculpts.

Like this:

Note that the cowl covers the spot where his nose is supposed to be, and in order to do that the "beak" of the cowl sits much lower on the head. That gives the impression that Keaton's nose is actually under there. The Sideshow Batman by comparison just looks...wrong.

I'll be holding onto my Keaton.

Some of the photos by Sideshow tells me that one of the influences of this figure's look must be Bolland's version of Batman on his covers for DC's Gotham Knights series, hence the name of the figure (or someone pointed that out already?).

Didn't get the blue, but am definitely up for this one. Would love them to do more from this range - a Nightwing, Barbara Batgirl and Robin would suit me perfectly!

I did get the blue version - mainly because it tweaked childhood nostalgia, and reminded me of a big version of the SuperPowers figure from the 80's.
Have to say I absolutely love the blue version with long-eared head attached... now if only somebody would make custom mouth pieces, better sculpts and paint job, and it would be the perfect Batman figure for me!
I will most probably pass on this version reluctantly, purely down to saving money for other figures - Arkham Asylum Batman, SSC Superman, Flash, GL etc., and hopefully the upcoming Batman vs Superman figures from Hot Toys.
I really hoped they'd do a classic **** Grayson Robin before they brought another version of Batman out - but I suppose it was an easy release for them as they already have the moulds, uniform patterns etc.

It's a story.... of a Bat who's crazy...

Obviously just the lighting, but long-eared reminds me of Hellboy and short-eared reminds me of Catman! As for faces - the angry face is much better than the blue version, but let's wait and see what the actual release is like!

I think I'm in for this guy. I mostly just collect batman nowadays, so other than the arkham figure, I don't have much on the horizon. On principle, I don't pre order any more so I'll most likely wait for in hand pics for this and arkham bats. I may also pick up an extra ssc black cape somewhere because it looks like it might make a good replacement for the stock 89 hot toys cape.

Batman needs Robin. I'm thinking based off of Neil Adams 90's redesign.

I agree. I've never liked Robin.

I do like **** Grayson as Nightwing though.

Robin-in particular **** Grayson remains my favorite character from all the batman mythos. If. **** Grayson is ever announced in any form from sideshow I'll be doing a pharell Williams dance.

Robin doesn't get the attention he deserves in my opinion. Mezco are unlikely to do her to accompany their terrific dark knight and he is long overdue a figure at 1/6 scale.

I still think if sideshow was smart they will make one robin and include Tim drakes costume and head as the exclusive. And 2 other sculpts one Richard Grayson and one jason Todd or if they use only one sculpt use changeable hair pieces. Have figure come in Richards sculpt.

I truly believe babs batgirl and robin should come out next year. We haven't seen a comic book version since DCD
