I would like to hear Showtime's version on this.

This is their response:

We were saddened to read David Lynch's statement today since we believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on the few remaining deal points. SHOWTIME also loves the world of Twin Peaks and we continue to hold out hope that we can bring it back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm.

Showtime hasn't given up yet it seems based on that statement. There is still hope

The second I heard/read this, I thought it sounded purely like some kind of bargaining technique on Lynch's end. He's not getting enough money he says. Now Showtime seems confused.

I think the idea is to generate a lot of response, maybe a petition from fans that puts a bit of extra pressure so he can get what he wants.

David Lynch just posted this on facebook:

"Dear Facebook Friends, Showtime did not pull the plug on Twin Peaks. After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done. This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing. Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime. I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently."

Well if no Lynch, they should just cancel the whole thing.

Boooooooooooo

I agree. If he gets the fans all riled up, Showtime might just cave into his demands.

Excellent news! Showtime would be stupid not to give Lynch the budget this series deserves - they'll make it all back plus healthy profits in its original run plus licensing.

"David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours."

I was so bummed when Lynch announced he wasn't returning.Imagine how i feel now :lol
Lynch IS Twin Peaks. There is no way it would carry itself without him.

I gotta admit though, the team behind True Detective could have been a decent replacement if Lynch never had returned. That show reminds me of Twin Peaks in so many ways and it could very well be as good as well.

Ha, That US Weekly article said the series wrapped 14 years ago... They're only off by a decade. Doh!

Woooooooo!

Check out the casting. It's overflowing with returning cast members and well-known actors alike. Definitely a number of surprising names and some "WTF" in there. It's going to be interesting to say the least.
