I just found out that front man Ronnie James Dio has died at the age of 67 years old. He lost the battle to stomach cancer.
HOLY DIVER
You'll always be a rainbow in the dark!:( :rock

Thank goodness for that. But I'm sure we will be reading it for real as it sounds like he is fighting a uphill battle. I hope he recovers. Best wishes out to his family.

Dio has rocked for a long, long time,
Now it's time for him to pass the torch.
He has songs of wilderbeasts and angels,
He has soared on the wings of a demon.

I just really discovered Dio a couple years ago, and now I'm a fan. He made some great music in the 1980s. Some of the best "exercise" music I've found, up there with Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. I hope he can beat this thing.

Ummm yeah you can go ahead and delete this.
Turns out you can't trust any thing on the internet!
Google & yahoo both had it...
My bad.
Long live DIO!

The originator of the Sign of the Beast. The man is a legend.

Dio explained this in a documentary once....

Ronnie James Dio is known for popularizing the sign of the horns in heavy metal.[3][4] His Italian grandmother used it to ward off the evil eye (which is known as malocchio, Dio's term for the gesture). Dio began using the sign soon after joining (1979) the metal band Black Sabbath. The previous singer in the band, Ozzy Osbourne, was rather well known at using the "peace" sign at concerts, raising the index and middle finger in the form of a V. Dio, in an attempt to connect with the fans, wanted to similarly use a hand gesture. However, not wanting to copy Osbourne, he chose to use the sign his grandmother always made.[5] The horns became famous in metal concerts very soon after Black Sabbath's first tour with Dio. The sign would later be appropriated by heavy metal fans under the name "maloik", a corruption of the original malocchio.

That was great! Really enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing. If he is indeed gone, it is a great loss. :(

You might. I'm sure he has a lot of studio work that hasn't been released yet. His wife will see that the best of it will be.
