Comments will inevitably come out now and then in relevant discussions, but I think that dedicated threads on political/religious topics aren't a completely perfect match for a collectible/toy web site. They certainly need to be watched carefully and have a potential for problems and division.

I guess from now on i'll describe what i'm talking about in real clear easy to understand words for you El.

You can be sarcastic all you want but your first post didn't explicitly say what you wanted the thread to be. There are many different ways to discuss that event.

I hate discussing religeon and politics.. I just don't clck on those threads... Unless I plan on flinging some poo..

WHAT WHAT

neither do I, but it gets irritating when I log in to this forum and all I see are Palin threads, McCain, UFos, and Pirates.

yea blah, blah, blah I dont wanna hear about it anymore is a great way to discuss it.

Clearly Rory, some people are in tune to something that you and few others are not. To me it was clear from the first post what his intentions were. As it was clear what a persons intentions are when they post a thread about pictures of their kids. As it was clear when someone posted a thread memorializing someone they admired. Each case was something you failed to "tune" into.

I have no response to other than I am sorry you do not seem to have the ability to perceive the more subtle things and too much pride to acknowledge when you are in the wrong.

:dunno

So in your opinion, there are threads that are never open to any discussion besides "Oh I agree."

You see the world in a very black and white manner. I can acknowledge when I am wrong but can you? In this instance you clearly saw the first post had no real direction yet you continue to deny it.

Every post that said God Bless America or Never Forget or just showed a picture of the flag was a political message.
I completely disagree. If your definition of political is "expressing solidarity as Americans against terrorism and remembrance of our fallen, regardless of political affiliation", then I might agree. But using any other definition, not so much.

It's only a problem if we go through the motions of a fair and reasoned guidebook. I have no problem with the moderators saying point blank "this is a dictatorship." But say that and don't pretend there's anything else going on. In many ways I think that's the only solution, to be honest.
Well, to an extent I agree. It is a dictatorship. A benevolent one, to be sure, but a dictatorship, nonetheless. It is a privately owned and maintained forum. We pay no dues or other membership or sponsorship fees. We merely visit and enjoy the result of the hard work of others. Even if a majority of posters were to vote for the inclusion of hardcore porn in the forum, it is not likely that Dave would allow it.

But, why jump to the conclusion that guidelines established by Dave and the mods will not be fair and reasoned? If anything, they have gone out of their way to be so.

Personally I think it's pretty obvious it's a dictatorship (actually I think an oligarchy is a better description), what the mods say and do goes. As posters and members we can disagree and ask a mod to reconsider, which being good and fair people they sometimes do. But that's just them being nice. To me this board is a case of voting with your feet, if they come down too hard and people start to leave they'll know, and if they are too soft and people start to leave they'll know that too.

You can justify your behavior anyway you want. I am done. :wave

I originally chose "I don't care" on the poll but this thread is a perfect example of irony and has changed my mind.

I now choose "no". :D

The first post was flag waving. How is that not political?

I didn't jump to that conclusion. In fact I find your tone here offensive and tactless and ask for your post to be deleted.

Oh. Maybe you see the problem now. :)

The Kurgans are still around? I thought that cult died out a long time ago. :monkey3
