Looking at things from a less cynical POV, I wish real companies would announce firm release dates for figures once they've got a firm idea of when they will be ready.

Absolutely. A little advance notice would be nice instead of figures showing up out of the blue months in advance: ie: Anakin, Tarkin, etc. Not that its a bad thing, but when you are planning ahead, early notice would help.
