Well I'm definitely curious if Hot Toys were to....

...make Aldrich Killian as the real Mandarin, complete with glowing body and dragon tattoos and all. Heck include an alternate head based on his fire-breathing moment to top it off. It'd make for a cool-looking figure that's for sure.

Now that, I would buy sans the 'breathing' thing idea.

So what's wrong with people buying this for the look? We won't see another Mandarin figure for maybe forever. This is a great figure to represent the Madarin, even given the situation of him in the movie.

The "twist" was a brave move. Clearly split fans & collectors right down the middle.

I for one liked it, I sat open mouthed in the cinema for the first couple of minutes afterwards doing my best goldfish expression, then laughed out loud. Not often that a "Summer Action" movie completely suprises you!

I will buy the figure and if he comes with "alternate" outfit that's be perfect...... well no, it'd be perfect if he came with his "twist" moment bedfellows....... Heh, I can dream

I liked Trevor, he was funny and played well but it shouldn't have been this way. He would've been the best ACU villain had they not ruined his Mandarin Character

This figure is a joke, the only thing it has going for it is the look of the character as the character has no meaning at all beyond a joke.

And the people who were saying 'Kingsleys performance rivals that of Ledgers in TDK' need their heads looking at.

before the twist Mandarin came off as this larger than life character and was not only acted brillaintly but he was menacing, imo he could've been one of the best comic book villains if they hadn't ruined how well he was going

Haha fair enough. Also for anyone who has seen the movie but felt a bit disappointed...

....Think of it this way. They pulled another Ra's Al Ghul on us (kind of ironic considering how both Ra's and Mandarin are based on the same Fu Manchu stereotype too.) In that regard, I don't mind what they did with the revelation that Killian was the real Mandarin with the Extremis virus acting as the explanation for his powers (fire-breathing capabilities with dragon tattoos on his chest and whatnot.) The only reason why it probably feels like a cop-out is because Trevor's image as "The Mandarin" wasn't so much a decoy (like Ken Watanabe's Ra's Al Ghul to Liam Neeson's Ducard) as he was just an exaggerated front for the REAL Mandarin who happens to be Killian himself.

It's was kinda last night. I am on the us so is the movie. One more showing in lake arrowhead and big bear Lake.


The main bad guy's are Aim. In this movie. Ht should have put out a man. Before the movie. I love him with his cans of something.

I didn't mind the twist atall and didn't really know what to expect from the Mandarin as a villain. I'm sure the figure will look great but do we really need it? He started off menacing but was turned into a joke (such a funny scene).

In this case Yes, this is actually a historical figure 1800 years back, like a Roman Legionary General for example...

It was also announced before Mandarin

I just find it odd that he is going to be released in may of 2013, close to the release date of the Iron Man 3 film.

And his chosen wardrobe is Green Clothing, with black and Gold armor.

Which happens to be one of the "iconic" looks of the Comic book Mandarian.

Yup. just coincidence.

Or clever marketing.

^ Apparently Guan Yu's choice of colour is also Green... so if the figure depicts a historical figure accurately... one could say Mandarin imitates him instead.. I believe the release date for the figure is in July... far from the date IM3 opens in Asia... April, though it was announced as the IM3 buzz was in Asia.

Different market... different audience... different production time frame, they are not actually competing products.

Another HT figure, LOKI, which is green with gold armor and a scepter/spear just released has more relations...
