You know you can just take the helmet off, right?
It's made of the same pvc as the head so just dunk it in boiling water for a few minutes and peel it off. Once it's off, it might be slightly out of shape. So do the same with the helmet, then attach it to the head and run the whole thing under the cold water tap to make sure it's back in shape.
I have done a few like the one you pictured, for people here on the forum.
Taking the lid off makes it a lot easier.

I removed the helmet and dremelled the ears off that way. Saves slipping and damaging the helmet.
I never took a picture of the alterations with the lid off, but here are a couple with it back on before sculpting the ear covers:

Inspired by Remy's custom, and asked to make one for a member here, i started another one at work yesterday.
I added more gloss than perhaps was called for, but i reckon it looks good.
I am very happy with the result.

Looks great man.

Thanks. Your work inspired me to take another bash at it.
I have also taken another head apart and i am going to sand the helmet smooth, so it can possibly be cast up as a GA helmet replacement on this headsculpt(Same inside, altered outside, so it should slip right on after being painted).

golden age cap is still my favorite...& I may possibly be biased since it was my first ever hot toy to start my collection :p

No offense but that looks pretty bad, in my opinion.

I think it looks really good, Username does great custom work. I just think the finish on the helmet may be a bit too glossy.

I actually wish I was able to have GA Cap with the helmet/mask on, but the stock sculpt just doesn't cut it. As far as my Caps go, the only ones I ideally want un-helmeted are the two Avengers ones, being that it seems like it's in those films he fought the final battles without his helmet on, whereas in his individual movies, he has it on.

However, being that the stock GA sculpt is just way too bean headed, I have an extra TWS Civvy Steve sculpt on it, which looks great.

Which part? The final result? You quoted all the pics, lol.
Also, don't ever worry about offending me, Jeff. I can take criticism okay. The bright lights in that detolf make the helmet shine really bright(there are two dioder bars above each shelf and two on the front bars facing the figures, so there is four times the normal light in those pics), but in ambient light it does look okay. It was made for a customer who had to back out due to financial reasons, but I am rally happy to have it on my GA Cap in the meantime till I find another buyer!
I don't mind anyone critiquing anything I do. If I have flubbed it, feel free to tell me.

It appears to glossy and shiny for me. But I've seen a lot of your other work and it's very impressive.

No worries. That's fair comment. The GA helmet(Although slightly more shiny than the Strike lid), is still mostly matte. I just love the shiny look, as though perhaps Cap's helmet looked more shiny in the WWII news segments, so the person who made the Cap helmet replica in the Smithsonian took a bit of artistic licence. Like it looks like it was buffed to a high shine and made from metal, unlike the composite look of the Avengers and Strike helmets.
But it's cool if you don't like it.

That's one of the things I did like on the stock GA helmet, in the movie...when you watch it in bluray, his helmet has a nice sheen to it.
Its also darker, has a big contrast compared to the suit's color.
Its something more evident when you watch the movie rather than just screenshots.

Most HT helmet cap has a more matte finish, so the GA helmet got it right by having a nice sheen to it. Unfortunately, the head shrank when it went to production.
An added benefit when you add sheen to the HT helmet is that it also makes it darker, just like in the movies.

All that matters is what looks good to you. :duff

Yeah, I actually feel the helmet on the stock GA sculpt was perfect. Perfect shade of blue, perfect amount of gloss, etc. Unfortunately, the fact that the sculpt is just way too small, utterly kills it and renders it near useless.

It's weird too, because the helmeted GA head is pretty much the same size as the rest of the heads. It's the slightly desperate look on the eyes that kills it. The GA helmet is slightly less wide at the temples. But is about the same size otherwise.

No, you can tell from this picture that the GA head is a lot smaller than the Stealth/AOU head. Its actually even smaller than the TFA head.
So when you have the GA figure, whose body is almost the same size as HT Man of Steel which is on already on the the big side of a typical 1/6 figure, add in a small head, that made the suit look bulky.
That's why putting the AOU helmeted head or Evans head makes the GA figure look proportionate.

On this proto pic, the head is about the size of the AOU head.
