You guys who didn't buy really stuck it to poor ol' George! :lol

Variety is reporting that Star Wars has sold more than one million units in only a week on the market, shattering records for the high-definition format, and further cementing Blu-ray's dominance as the home video format of choice.

Despite an average list price of $79.99, the nine disc set generated more than $84 million in worldwide sales. U.S. sales accounted for $38 million of that total, with 515,000 units sold in North America.

"Seems like the angry fans who protested the changes to the Star Wars trilogy by boycotting the Blu-ray release didn't have much of an affect on its sales. Lucasfilm and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment wasted no time getting out a press release touting the fact that just one week after its release, Star Wars: The Complete Saga has quickly become the number-one pre-order and number-one Blu-ray catalog title of all time."

Come on man, that's because we all know these nerds who cry about their childhood being ruined by a movie maker of all things are a very small percentage. It's seems like alot of people, but really those that are happy or don't care just don't post stuff. Whereas the negative folks or angry people want their voice to be heard.

I didnt get this for two reasons:

1) The American packaging looks so much better than the cheap blue plastic used on the UK release

2) The price point sucks £67 for 6 films and bonus material, whereas the Harry Potter collection has 8 films and also includes DVD version too in the package, with a book and numbered box for about the same price.

Uncle Georgie didn't get my money either. He can shove his blu-rays where the twin suns of Tatooine don't shine.

Maybe George is playing the long game. In another 40-50 years most who remember the originals will be dead. The original versions will be an asterix or footnote in film history textbooks or wiki articles.

Why is everyone so upset about the changes?

Because they are under the delusion that Lucas is out to destroy there childhood. Which is selfish for a start. People seem to think this is the only choice available buy the original unaltered set and live with it.

The first 3 movies are plainly aimed at a new generation of kids and not for adults with far too much play money. Its like adults stamping there feet because the kids are getting all the attention. Its about longevity people and like any good dictatorship you start from the schools and work on them.

Since the Blu-rays are now out and we already have a Blu-ray discussion thread, I will now lock this one.
