I've been planning to make one of these for a year or two and I finally found the time to get started today.

I used the following.

Lego

I will be painting him, adding greebles and adding lights before I'm done.

A little more done today.

I added lights.

Also attempted "salt weathering" for the first time.

Still more to do but I like posting the updates as I go.

Thanks Hewer, still some more painting / wearhering to do but he's getting there. I'm happy at how he is turning out.

Lovely work dude!! :clap :clap :duff

Great pic updates too, & I dig that you've made 'your' version of a GNK droid - awesome.
Thanks VintijDroidGutzz, he's my very own interpretation of a GNK. I really enjoyed bringing him to life so to speak. I love the fact that with stuff like this there is no "wrong way" to make him. Plus I learned a new weathering technique.

Yeah cool mate, & the light feature rocks too!

I love the idea of customizing - but right now for me, it's a time / money thing.. so for now I'm happy to just check out all these great threads & take in as much info as I can. :)

The lights are super easy to do. It's two led lights for a Radio Controlled car. They flash red and blue. I connected them to a 9v battery with a built in switch on the battery housing using a thing called a "breadboard".

I had no idea how easy it would be to add lights until I went to my local electronics hobby store. I told them what I wanted to do and the guy grabbed the parts for me off the shelf.

Best thing about it is that it all fits inside the tupperware containers.

It looks so cool!
Good Job dude, it's detail and wow so realistic!
Thanks Man, the details were fun to do. I broke open a lot of old electronics and robbed parts. There's even a Hasbro Battle Droid arm on the side.

I never throw anything away cos you never know when you will need it for a build!

Nice idea with the battle droid arm! :lol

Honestly man, great ideas. :)

I've got ideas for a few customs right now - not all SW related either, but working out what parts to acquire is the first challenge.

As far as Sandcrawler droids go though, this guy would be excellent to have a go at:

That's what's cool about this, although not screen accurate you know there had to be a lot of Gonk droids that performed the same job but looked different in size and design.

Great idea, just be careful he doesn't start saying "Roger...Roger" :lol

That's what I try to tell my wife when she gives me odd looks when I keep odd looking bits of this and that. :dunno

Thanks Hewer. That's high praise coming from you. I love your dioramas. I just built a small cover to go over the light switch hole at the back. Now he looks complete.
