go french bulldog bro....thats what i want...a dog that chills

Believe it or not, one of the biggest coach potatoes there is, is a greyhound. We were thinking about adopting one and the organization told us this. We didn't adopt though because we decided to get another Sheltie.

Well I went with a Frenchie. I found a great breeder in the KY area. He won't be ready for another two weeks but this is him.

Bogart at 6 weeks...

I've always liked english bulldogs although I've never owned a dog.
If I ever do it will probably be an english bull.

Sorry I'm weighing in on this so late, but thought I'd post anyway.

I've had an English Bulldog for the past six and a half years. He's my shadow. Considering I work from home he's ideal. HOWEVER, bulldogs are prone to OCD as well as many other congenital disorders, many of which you can't spot or rely on a breeder to disclose. Everybody likes to believe that theirs is a reputable breeder, but the truth is, no matter how much you think you've researched, any breeder could be disreputable and hide it easily enough. Turkish, my dog, has OCD and is medicated for it. While this sounds amusing, I can assure you its anything but funny. Sometimes his episodes can result in truly dangerous situations, and there has been more than a few occasions that I've thought I'd have to put him down, one occasion I'd have done it myself if I'd had a gun handy. Turk is part of the family, and I love him dearly, but I'm also aware that the day may come that I have to have him euthanized for safety sake. I've consulted with the AKC, The Bulldog Rescue Association, and vets, and unfortunately, this is a relatively common disorder for bullies. Would I own a bulldog again? Absolutely, they're wonderful animals and great companions, but you should know what you're getting into if you take one into your home, and some things simply aren't chronicled in breed books.

Good luck in your search!

I love English bulldogs, but am not keen on the way they have been bred over the years, until they can give a natural birth then I won't have one, The personality of them is great, and the breed standard is changing as most don't live to over 6 or 7 from what iv heard, the noise they make when breathing just sounds awful imo, if it was a person you would go to a doctor about it, but they just have to get on with it.
I have a 3 year old English Bull terrier called Gryff, and I love him to bits, will sort pics if anyone is interested?

I'm currently looking at getting a dog and it's between these two breeds. I was wondering if anyone on here has one or has experience with either and could let me know their thoughts on them. I know everything about both breeds from a book and breed standpoint so what I'd like to hear are first hand opinions from owners.

Bull dogs have a very limited life span. Just a heads up.

Edit:

Just read the entire thread. Didn't realize you made the decision. My comment wasn't meant to be insensitive. :duff Congrats though!

nice dog bullseye :rock:rock must have cost alot though for such a fine pedigree :horror

Thanks. She cost a pretty penny for sure but she has been worth every
penny. She has helped greatly with the loss of Remy my previous Ridgeback. They are an outstanding breed. Highly recommended.
