I've never been a great futzer, and it took even longer with the Asmus Legolas! After over 2hrs of frustration, I finally got him setup in a way I'm happy enough with on display!

Getting the cloak on and the head sculpt back onto the body was an exercise in frustration. Plus getting the hands on too was painful! Make sure you have some boiling water ready to help soften the hair and the hands! Still havent got the elven clasp on the cloak rotated the right way, but I dont care anymore lol

Here's my review of the new Asmus Toys Legolas from their LOTR series. Overall a pretty nice figure, and perhaps one of their best in the series.

But there are certainly a few nits to pick! I'll be posted another video too covering my frustrations in putting him all together after this initial review.

Oh yes, you gotta change gods hands. I had the same problem. Each peg was a different size to begin with. They wouldn't go into the hands nor the arms! I just swapped them out for hot toys ones.

Here's Part 2 of my Asmus Toys Legolas review that points out some of the areas of frustration for me when putting him altogether. Looks nice once all finished, but I wish it wasn't such a chore to get there!

Only Boromir and Gimli to go to complete the Fellowship! Overall, I'm pretty happy with this effort from Asmus Toys. If they improve their head sculpts even more, they might just take it to Hot Toys, but not there yet.

After watching Khai's review, I'm wondering if anyone took pictures during their surgery to get the quiver straps repositioned?

I'd like to know which strap in the back people are tearing away from the glue and letting out so the whole rig is looser?

The one that goes over his shoulder.

OK, thanks. Is it just letting it hang loose -- or can you let more material out and reattached it?
It's definitely just letting it hang loose. The straps are plastic. They're meant to be glued where they are glued or not at all if you know what I mean. But as mentioned, letting it hang loose is fine if you use the cloak.

Finally got my Legolas from Asmus. I didnt have difficulty switching the hands or getting the cloak on but it was sitting on my porch for a while so maybe the heat helped lol

The only one I want now is Gimli and I'll be happy

Work in progress on adapting the old SSC kit to Legolas, after doing my research on how the Mirkwood quiver was made. Also taking care of the yellow hair.

We are getting a lot of questions about why we are doing rooted beard with Gimli but not rooted hair with Legolas and we'd like to give you guys an insight to why we made the difficult decision that raises so much doubt.

1. Different Braiding Style:
Gimli uses the basic braiding style for his beard while Legolas uses the more complex French braid.

2. Braiding:
Apart from the difficulties of mass production for the braiding, we also faced the challenge that the scalp will be showing if we want to fully re-create Legolas' hairstyle.

The braids are weaved with most of the hair on both sides, it's our concern that with so many strands of hair getting tucked away, the scalp underneath will become really visible.

3. The Comb-Back Hair:
Legolas sports a slickly comb-back hair and it's hard to keep rooted hair as smooth. Even with gel, it's still a problem to create that neatly stranded texture.

4. Unnatural Hairline:
With the braiding and the comb-back hair, the entire seam of the scalp and the face will be exposed and we have yet to find a way to make the seam look natural and smooth.

After taking into accounts of all the suggestion and feasibility, we opted to take a step back and stick to sculpted hair for this release because we cannot overcome the technical difficulties for rooted hair at this moment. So ultimately the sculpted hair will have better result than the much anticipated rooted hair. So we hope you all like our Legolas and we look forward to showing you guys Boromir! Thank you for your time and all your support!

Finished my work on the old SSC kit. Basically I replaced the old strapping with a new one, adding two metal rings in the proper spots, just lime the prop:

Weathered a little both both boots and vambraces.

I also repainted Leggy hair and old SSC knives hilts (that were ivory in many shots from FOTR).
Let's hunt some Orcs!

Light repaint for the Lothlorien quiver strapping to match the quiver itself:
