Are you certain? If so that's awesome! I want to take my kids to this and was worried that How to Train your Dragon might kick it out of the Large Format auditoriums in two days.
Yes I've read plenty of complaints online of no IMAX 3D showings of Dragons. I also checked both of my premium format theaters (IMAX 3D and RPX 3D) and they have Alita holding the screens into next week as well. Obviously people should check their individual theaters to confirm but this is a good sign.

Wow, startling disparity!

I know! At almost 10,000 audience scores that 94% is huge.

I'm not familiar with the source material,

Oh cool so you weren't put off by the open ending then?

That'll be great if it gets another week in Large Format venues.

A couple fun facts:

1. It was Robert Rodriguez who talked Cameron into letting him go with Alita's big eyes. He thought that would be paramount to appropriately translating anime to live-action. So kudos to Rodriguez!

2. Producer Jon Landau suggested that they flip the name from Battle Angel Alita to "Alita: Battle Angel" to keep Cameron's "T&A" theme of all his movies starting with T or A, lol.

I was fine with the open-ended ending. It reminded me a lot of the ending to Casino Royale haha

As long as there is a sequel, I don't mind at all

Can't just have Edward Norton glaring through the movie and not have it come to anything.

Presales in China are running slightly ahead of Bumble Bee at the same time so it looks like $150 total in China is happening. We just need a good show in from Japan and then our chances of seeing Alita on screen will be a very realistic chance of happening.

Good ol' Jon Landau. Always making the important decisions.

But don't forget "Piranha 2"...

I ordered the art book off Amazon and hoping to see the movie again later this week.

My kids had a snow today today so I took them to an IMAX 3D matinee. My second viewing in as many days. Yeah I freaking love this movie. Happy to contribute over 70 bucks toward its earnings and can't wait for the 4K blu-ray.

If you haven't seen this in IMAX 3D go treat yourself, you won't regret it!

Right on. I can't believe how engrossed I am with this movie and the universe. We need more Alita!

Dying to see it again, myself. I'd love to take my 10 year old, but right now all she cares about is the next Dragons movie.

Yeah I saw this after initially having zero interest. Loved it despite its flaws. Loved iron city + the outskirts. Loved alita...she was perfectly characterized. Really hope somehow someway a sequel is made

Weird thing - Ed Norton not credited. Not in the changing ones, nor the scrolling.
Supposedly 3 actors will have much larger roles in upcoming sequels, if they are made.

Edward Norton
Michelle Rodriguez
And Jai ::cringe:: Courtney

Or should I say the characters will, as Robert Rodriguez is unsure if the actors would be available to return to the roles when (and if) the sequel(s) get made. He supposedly picked them because they have a history of being replaced by other actors.

I can't speak for Norton or Rodriguez, but somehow I think Jai Courtney will be free.

Before Norton took his goggles off in the movie I actually thought it was James Cameron, lol!

I thought that was so cringe inducing that he made himself the main villain that it was actually kind of taking me out of the movie. I practically let out an audible "oh thank God" when Nova took off his goggles and it was clearly Norton. Never realized that both he and Cameron have the same birdlike features.

I was way off, at first I thought it was Peter Stormare.

While I like Norton, I'd actually rather it was Peter Stormare.

How much of the manga have you read Khev?

Stormare would have been good too.

None of it actually. I've only seen the 1993 cartoon. But after watching the movie last night I researched it because I assumed that all the stuff that wasn't in the original cartoon (Motorball and her entire backstory as an URM Berserker) was added for the movie. That's when I learned that those things are from the manga and are just elements that were introduced later.

I really liked how they were integrated in the movie (especially that flashback of Alita's team climbing the cable to Zalem with the massive ships crashing below them) but now I plan on picking up the manga collected editions to get more of the story.
