Still on it chaps, and should get the first run shipped Q4 needed to completely rebuild the entire body mainly to reduce weight as 8kg + would cost an arm & a leg to ship, so no longer resin casting. I’ve increased the width, upgraded lots of small details and improved the general topology and I’m far happier with the result. Feel free to drop me an email if you’re still interested. Jas

Lucky enough to say I have some great pieces in my collection, but this will be my grail piece because of sentimentality of the Kenner toy I had as a kid.

CAN'T WAIT!!! :yess:

Looking awesome and so great to see this coming into the station but would love to see some higher res pics - the last lot seem almost like thumbnails.

Wow Q4 has come round quick, here are the first two and almost good to go. I've improved a few areas: seat pads are now individual foam covered in faux leather, I've also added a couple of magnetic leather straps & buckles to hold Luke's long rifle, There is also two variants of steering wheel / yoke both fully removeable and adjustable via a magnet. Improved detailing on the exposed engine and all 3 engines are now removeable for safer shipping. Along with numerous other upgrades, Just the weathering and boxes to go.

I know it's been a bit of a wait chaps and can only apologies for that, but I'm so glad I didn't rush to get these out, as the quality just wasn't where I wanted it be to back then. This is finally where I want it to be so real production has finally started. Can whoever is still interested let me know please? As I'm sure a few have dropped out and I am only making a max of 20.

Curious if the lights are still in the dash or they dropped off. Not a big deal if they did since it's not strictly screen accurate. I so can't wait to see the final weathered version and to add this to the collection. The Kenner landspeeder was my favourite childhood toy and to finally have a screen accurate sixth scale will be a dream come true.

I decided to scrap the LED idea as sanding and spraying each LED with translucent colour, building the tiny circuit boards, the wiring looms, resistors, and power source, then trying to squeeze everything in was incredibly labour intensive and would have driven-up build costs. I wanted to keep this build at my initial price point of £700 GBP.

Here is a quick peek at a small part of the prototyping process:
Originally used plastic tubes to mount the steering wheel / yoke then sprayed matt black.
Which caught on the magnet and bracket once in place damaging the tube.

So scrapped that and went with the more expensive but better option of Aluminium tube, stronger, no need to paint and looks so much better. I've also changed to a satin finish rather than matt.

Weathering starts this weekend so if all goes well I should be posting final images next week.

PS: I have a considerable waiting list from FB & IG (to fill the 20 build limit), so it's only fair that I give all you very patient and wonderful collectors first dibs as this is where this build started, so if you can drop me an email to secure your spot (thanks to all those who have already).

Jas

Still here chaps, just having a break from building for a bit, got a lot going on at the min.
Vac Former worked great from the first pull, so the screens are all done. I will need to tweak the headrests as they aren't quite right, as the faux leather isn't sitting right in the corners.

Windshield looks great! Well done.

Regarding the faux leather on the seats... Personally, it's not a biggy for me. It looks good, but I'm not a fan of the "gaps" where you can see the hull color underneath, the varying "depths" of the padding, and (obviously) the texture of the "leather" clearly isn't in 1/6 scale.

Not right or wrong, just throwing out my opinion. I really liked them before, so if the faux is too much of a ball-breaker, all good for me to live without it.

But as always - love the attention to detail, sir!!!!!
