I didn’t see any of the stream, was it literally just Justin, Jedha, and who else? And they were all bashing Danoby? Again, to defend Danoby a bit, the difference is that he is crystal clear about when he’s trying to point viewers to an affiliate store. I watched the entire stream he did about Joker and he mentioned numerous times that he personally wasn’t going to buy the Joker but if anyone watching was going to then he would appreciate it if they used his code on Spec Fiction so he can get points for an Iron Man bust. The difference being that other YouTubers will promote certain stores but never, ever mention that they specifically are getting any sort of incentive or discount or whatever for doing so. They always make it sound like they are doing a favor for that store or want to promote them because they had a good experience buying from them.

Now, here’s the thing. I don’t understand why so many people get in a twist about YouTubers getting figures for free or a discount or whatever in the first place. Video game reviewers get sent free copies to review. Movie critics get into free showings. But for some reason collectors automatically hate on a figure reviewer doing the same thing. I will just never understand it myself.
Justin has said before that he gets occasional discounts or free samples to check out from TW and various figure companies. Just like every other youtuber with a ton of followers. Not really sure what the big deal is about that.

I mean if people are making their buying decisions just based on the opinion and videos of one guy, then that's their own fault.

I couldn’t care less if Justin gets things for free or not. He may buy his figures, but he’s certainly getting some sort of revenue stream from promoting both of TW’s current stores. The issue is about being honest about it. And frankly for me he can be too positive on even the most cringeworthy of pieces, but I think that’s just his brand. Imo the more positive all around a YouTuber is the bigger their channel is likely to be (as long as it’s not about politics etc).

And Donoby isn’t exactly always honest either, as he‘ll make a controversial statement just for the sake of making some sort of impact.

And many people have issues with any reviewers getting free copies of anything, be it games or early screenings of new movies. A lot of people can’t seem to believe that anyone who receives something for ’free’ will still have the base integrity to tell their honest view on an item. Many of these individuals who receive free things on YouTube or elsewhere are probably making more than enough from it already as they’re only receiving this benefit because they’ve grown their channels big enough to have an effect on the market.

The issue with Justin is not that he gets a revenue stream from TW, it is that he crosses the integrity line as a reviewer for many. You can't be openly promoting a business like TW that has a track record of unethical business practices, being in those pockets plus publishing reviews that only say great things no matter the quality. The totality of these things is what puts people off to Justin. I myself actually find some value in Justin because his videos are quick after release and I can visually see the end product. But I can certainly understand why Justin is not liked by a lot of collectors.

Why is Danoby so sure this figure will suck?

He's convinced Hot Toys will do better, but how? Nothing they've done before suggests the use of real wood and metal parts are likely. They've never used seamless wrists and their only rooted hair figures have been the cheap doll hair variety.

I find value in Justin's reviews for speed of broadcast, and clear views of the figures. What he says is more or less irrelevant to me in terms of what opinion he may or may not have regarding the figure. The Toys Wonderland thing never bothered me one way or the other but it now leaves a bad aftertaste given recent developments.

Simple answer, dude is one of those hot toys fanboys that say hot toys can do nothing wrong. That’s why everyone else sucks but hot toys.

Why is he even convinced hot toys is going to release another ledger joker?

I reckon this figure would look amazing next to a Pattinson figure. I don’t know why but I reckon the Pattinson batsuit just goes way better with this joker then the original Christian Bale batsuit. Just my opinion though

I clicked on that stream out of sheer morbid curiosity last night, and it was just 40 minutes of these guys lashing out because their apparently fragile egos were hurt by one comment from a guy they don't know.
They're all dumb. If that's what they're worried about right now than they have it pretty good.

I skipped through the reviews for closeups of the headsculpts and some poses, that's all I need to see :dunno
Same. I never care for what a random reviewer has to say about a figure. I just go to look at what the production figure looks like and what material/issues it looks like it might have.

Does it look cool and is it something I really want in my collection? Cool I'll get it. The opinions of some random reviewer has no weight. Justin has always been way too positive though and it made me not watch his stuff since the start. He can't say anything negative about a figure without having to undercut it with some positive note right after it. I just skim through his video on mute to see what the figure looks like.

The only videos I don't skip around on from time to time is Jedha since I feel he's more genuine than the other reviewers out there.

Yup, that is certainly his formula. Any negative thing being mentioned in the public domain, he‘ll be sure to bring it up, and say it’s not that big of a deal.

I’ve only been reading about issues at TW quite recently. How far back does it go (other than their high shipping which has existed for awhile) as I don’t see Justin extricating himself with whatever arrangement he has with TW until he finds an ‘equal’ replacement to promote.
