Nice. I'm certain this is Lt Colonel Hal Moore from We Were Soldiers. boots, gear, and aircav patch plus the circle 7th ID patch gives it away he also had that pose many times in the movie.

Brief Introduction​

On November 14, 1965, in the Ia Drang Valley of central Vietnam, the U.S. military and North Vietnamese forces engaged in their first significant direct confrontation since the outbreak of the war. This marked the first time U.S. forces used airborne troops on a large scale in Vietnam. Our upcoming 1/6 U.S. Army Lt. Col. Moore, was the commanding officer in the Battle of Ia Drang.

Covered in dust, his brows are furrowed, forehead wrinkled, gaze steadfast and focused, lips tightly shut, with a downward turn at the corners of his mouth, his expression serious, as if confronting a complex and severe battle.

He is dressed in the typical P58 utility shirt and trousers, with a green T-shirt underneath, wearing an M1 Vietnam helmet with mitchell cover and inner liner. He’s equipped with a pistol belt and M1956 suspender, and black real-leather boots on his feet. This classic outfits of U.S. soldiers from the Vietnam War is faithfully reproduced.

He comes with an XM16E1 rifle and an M7 bayonet, which can be attached to the rifle for close combat effectiveness. The rifle is furnished with three magazines and two bullets. Additionally, he carries an M1911 pistol in a brown leather holster and two M26 grenades.

His gears including an M1956 first aid pouch, an M1961 field pack, two M16A1 ammo pouches, a canteen, cup and cover set, a flashlight, a watch, dog tags, and other accessories. He also has meticulously crafted patches, collar tabs, and badges. All accessories are made with great attention to detail.

In order to make him more realistic, the forearms and palms have been painted and added detailes, perfectly showcasing Colonel Moore’s heroic presence on the battlefield!

There seems to be a growing interest at the moment from Ujindou and QOrange/QOToys.

At least this one gives me a break from buying DID figures!

I think the likeness is spot on. I'm glad DiD is taking an interest in the Vietnam War.

There are really very few figurines from this war.

IMHO, there's a ton of potential with Sgt Major Plumley. I don't think there has ever been a high end Sam Elliott ( clean cut) type of headsculpt made in our hobby. Someone can correct me if I am wrong. Plumley could be great subject matter for a "Now And Then" figure. A VN figure packaged with another uniform from Korea or from something like Operation Market Garden, etc, etc. I do wish any We Were Soldiers figures came with an alternate dress uniform. Because those aren't really accessible right now in our hobby. But maybe that would drive up the price point too much.

I'd like to see a radioman too. I can't remember when the last time a good VN radioman got released. DID invested in the tooling and molds here, especially the M16A1, no reason why they won't try to milk it as long as possible. This might be the first high end functional M16A1 in our hobby. ( Intoyz did one over 20 years ago, but it was pretty wonky) Unless of course one was made in all the years I was gone out of the hobby.

I'm happy for VN collectors in general for this and other recent releases. I'm not a VN collector, but I recognize it's just really hard to find the gear since releases are so inconsistent. If you started the hobby back in 2000, you had ramp in time to pick up parts here and there, that's one thing, but most people didn't start that far back. But it's just a lot of scarcity on that side of the hobby. If they do make a radioman, hopefully we get a Barry Pepper headsculpt. Maybe a Greg Kinnear. Why not a Jon Hamm at this point?

What I really hope for you VN collectors, is you get a chance at headsculpts you wouldn't get otherwise. I.E. Casualties of War gives you a young Sean Penn possibility. Or a young Michael J Fox. Hamburger Hill gives you Don Cheadle. Bat 21 gives you Gene Hackman. Etc, etc. Just some thoughts.

A good weathering job on this including the face will do wonders for this one. Interested to see how the sculpt turns out too. I might bite for a nice weekend project upon release.
