    R.I.P. Tim Sale

Comics artist Tim Sale died suddenly at the age of 66. A cause of death wasn't revealed yet, but he must have been sick cause Jim Lee tweeted about 24 hours earlier that he was in the hospital and needed prayers. I have to be completely honest; I wasn't a fan of most of his stuff. I know he...

    Well. I just got fired.

Just found out my services are no longer required at the job I've had for 11 years. It's almost 5AM in Japan and I'm freaking out. Guess I'll have to try to come back to the States. I have so much stuff here though. I can't leave it here. I can't stay without a job. Not gonna lie...

RoboCop 2 Cain Moderoid plastic model coming from Good Smile

Looks like it'll be articulated, has a swap out "monitor" head. Plastic model kit like ED 209, though, so it's gotta be assembled and painted. Scale is unknown but it might be close enough to fudge with a MAFEX or NECA or Hagane....

    So......why figures?

Ever wonder why we like figures so much? I can only assume it's cause I grew up in the early 80s and for me there was nothing more fun than having adventures with my Star Wars, He-Man, Transformers, Thundercats, etc. We had actual "role play" toys, as in kid-sized plastic lightsabers to whack...

    Never ordering from Dorkside again...

Oh boo hoo, they're a small business owner just trying to stay afloat.... Yeah, well....not my problem. They take my money upfront and I go months, close to years til I hear jack ******* **** from them, and then just cancel the order out of months worth of frustration. Last time. Never...

Amazing Ghost in the Shell 1/4 statue

This thing is so awesome looking. Sadly it's over $1000. It's based off the same original promo art that McFarlane toys used for their figure way back in 2000, but this time it's not censored. Slightly NSFW, but check it out, it's beautiful...

Any hope of a 1/12 scale Captain Miller from "Private Ryan?"

There was the Poptoys version which I think hit recently, and I think his gear looks good (I'm a complete novice when it comes to military gear so it looked good enough to me) but OOF.....that head. Looks like Bill Pullman. Lots of companies seem to be doing official and unoffical 1/6 stuff...

POPTOYS 1/12 scale WWII Rescue Team

I see pre-orders for 1/12 scale figures based on an extremely successful/popular movie about a team that has to reluctantly rescue one man behind enemy lines in WWII. I haven't found any threads on these toys. Is such discussion verboten? Seems there are three for sale by the end of the year...

Social media and clickbait: a celebration of mediocrity

For months I read people gushing about how amazing and hilarious and jaw-dropping and pee your pants funny Keanu Reeves' entrance in the movie "Always Be My Maybe" is. I saw it on a list of "best moments of the year" in movies, so I finally watched it. It's perhaps the laziest, most obvious...

DC Designer Series: Batman by Mike Mignola

The infamous sculpt that put Black and White on the map is back.....what is this...the fourth time? I seem to recall the original, an oval version....and was there an oversized version? There was a mini-figure of it, too. I don't know. Maybe I lost track. Anyway, this is the first time...

So this section is deadsville, huh?

Too bad...wish I'd discovered it earlier. It was quite fun. So what killed it?

    ReAction 3 3/4 RoboCop

Unveiled at Toy Fair were Super7's ReAction RoboCop figures. Like all ReAction figures, the sculpts are bad. Intentionally bad. BUT....there's something so ridiculously goofy and charming about them, I kind of want them all. There's a regular RoboCop. A shot up, battle damaged RoboCop...

I am living in the absolute pinnacle of the Golden Age of toys.

Ever since the early 90s, I would think "Man, toys can't get any better." And every five to ten years, they DO. Stuff I had that I adored 10 years ago is antiquated now. Every time there's an upgrade to a character, it blows my mind. I can't help but look around my room and feel like I've...

    Mister Miracle = TURRRRDDDDDDD

Oh good god. Do yourselves a favor and avoid the "CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED" 12 issue maxi series Mister Miracle like the damn plague. When the first issue came out a whopping two years ago, it was almost universally praised as the next big thing. It was even compared to Watchmen and Dark Knight...

    Mostly 4 Millennials

I just started watching this show on adult swim and I love it. It's like Tim and Eric and Wonder Showzen. Brutally satirizes the hell out of that demographic that's so fun to hate. It's ridiculous and over the top but pretty dead on. I don't want to oversell it, but it's really clever. I...

    Katsuhiro Otomo appreciation thread

I had so much fun posting my favorite Frank Miller images, I decided to start a thread for my favorite artist of all time. Like my name implies, I am a huge fan of Katsuhiro Otomo. AKIRA is one of the greatest science fiction comic books of all time. The anime is definitely one of the most...

    Frank Miller appreciation thread

Frank Miller is my favorite American comic book artist. (My favorite overall is Katsuhiro Otomo, but I'll get around to starting a thread about him later.) I posted some pics I'd found the in Dark Knight III thread, but I have found some cool stuff lately so I figured I'd start a thread just...

I just threw out most of my childhood toys.

I'm visiting my family for the holidays. My brother and I had time to go through the old boxes of childhood toys that ended up in his basement after decades of attics and storage areas. This was mostly stuff from the 80s and very early 90s. Masters of the Universe, Thundercats, TMNT, Real...

Marvel Age of Heroes Exhibit, Tokyo Japan

I went to this exhibit yesterday and was really, really impressed. I didn't see any threads on it so I figured I'd start one. https://www.tokyocityview.com/marvel-exhibition/ The exhibit is being held in the art museum/observatory on the 52nd floor of the Roppongi Hills Mori building. So not...
