Was always planning to display with the Tobey head so the mask isn't a deal breaker...but still a bit disappointing.

Been out of the loop a little while but TBA seem to have hiked their prices...is that normal or just because it's a new release that's now waitlisted at SS?
Yes, the Hong Kong sellers are marking figures up by hundreds of dollars if they are already waitlisted on Sideshow upon release. Anyone waiting these days to just get a figure from Hong Kong is going to pay a major penalty.

yea just be patient, TBA was selling the green goblin upgraded for almost $550 usd and now it's $450 usd

That neck seem is ugly as hell. Still, it's Tobey so cancelling isn't an option for me.

InArt said anything Disney would be a no go but that wouldn't be an issue if they did figures from the original Raimi trilogy would it?

Sigh, looks like displaying this with the dead-eyed Tobey sculpt is the only way to go. I was inclined to do that anyway since it's the entire point of getting a NWH Tobey figure, but it does suck that it's the only option we have with this now.

Why put that bulging cameltoe of a stitch/seam on the forehead and not the in the back...? I don't understand how they thought this was a good idea. It looks awful.

I probably don't have to tell you that the old figure has it there aswell.

Surely there’s no avoiding that though?

The fabric fitting over the sphere of the top of his head. It presumably has to be split and joined so that it can fit over tightly with no excess material?

Wouldn't stitching it at the base in the back of the head make more sense though? Why would you have the stitching close and bulge on the forehead in the front, instead of having it come down to the back of the head to the base of the neck where you would stitch it off there. Similar to how the mask in the movies are done. Doesn't make sense to compromise how the front of the mask looks with how they're choosing to stitch it here.

If they'd used an actual stretchier fabric material like the movie does then they wouldn't have to mutilate the mask as much to get it to fit on.

I’m now fully convinced that the Raimi suit doesn’t work in 1/6 scale, especially the head. Nobody seems to be able to crack the code. I don’t even care about the seam in the head, never did. The thing that brings it down for me is the shape of the actual head and the lenses. It just isn’t right. It’s all too rounded and soft. The Raimi Spider-Man had sharp, angular features. The nose should be very prominent, as well as the chin. The lens are sharp and are positioned in a very specific way. What these companies have been doing lately has looked very generic. It’s not just Hot Toys. Hasbro, who has the benefit of sculpting in hard plastic, can’t even do the job right. Their Marvel Legends in 1:12 scale just doesn’t look like the movie. To be totally fair with all of them, the No Way Home mask doesn’t even look accurate to the shape and look from 1, 2, and 3 so Hot Toys can get a pass.

Originally I had two of the original 143. I sold one for $500 because of the whole cracked ankle situation. When this one got announced, I sold my other one for $300 (but kept the box, stand, base and webbing effects to go with this one). Always intended to use that towards these new releases. Now seeing the final product, I don’t even want this one either. Not to say it’s bad, it’s a fine looking Spider-Man, but for $300+ the head shouldn’t remind me of the mms143, it should blow it out of the water. This isn’t a matter of “oh, the first pictures are always bad”, no those blogger pictures are great. That head is just fundamentally WRONG. The 143 was the same way but we all bought it because that was the only 1/6 Spider-Man and only Hot Toys Raimi Spider-Man to be had. I remember opening it and just wanting to change it immediately. I’m looking back at the first page of this thread with the original solicitation specs pics, and yeah, that’s not what we got. I mean it wasn’t perfect either, but it looked SHARP. Those shots are also pretty heavily photoshopped and edited. There’s that great head shot and I’m not convinced Hot Toys could get the eyes and raised webbing placement to be that perfect when we’re talking about millimeters in distance. I’m not even disappointed, this is a nice domino effect that saves me money. No classic red and blue means no temptation to own the black suit version (which is going to be just like this one, but in black and silver). No Maguire Spider-Man means no need for either version of Green Goblin.

Maybe their next Maguire 3.0 for $400 will crack the code.

I love that HT waited until the 1st day of the New Year to release one of the most anticipated figures we have been craving for! Now this is how you make a release count HT And make it special! :hi5:

Now the challenge …how long until SS gets it In…I pray SS gets their stock before the Chinese New Year because the Asian distributors shut down for a whole week in celebration :tap

Even his 3D model in the Spider Man game doesn't look right. Raimi suit is a tricky one overall
