I was shocked she even went as far to say boppers. I know it was a reference but one could see how both films could almost take place in the same Universe. Over the top street gangs right out of a comic book and I after JW2 I had to go check to see if it was based on a graphic novel due to its comic like world building.
Same song and everything.

One of my favourite movies being referenced in one of my new favourite movies, can’t top that.

62% drop

Not bad.

Not great either though.

Lionsgate won’t allow another near 3 hour run time that’s for sure.
The film is going to cross a quarter billion worldwide in its second weekend. That's phenomenal for a non DC/MCU/SW film. JW1 and JW2 made that much combined. I doubt Lionsgate is worried about the run time as much as they are allowing Reeves and Stahelski to kill off the character as this franchise is reaching these huge dollar amounts.

Spin offs will kill this franchise.

JW4 has a perfect ending they should just stop although him retiring to be a concierge would’ve also been pretty satisfying and interesting end for the character.

Future action set pieces won’t be able to top this and I have no desire to see 120lb De Armas take on 700 big men.

They’re also going to get someone killed if they keep pushing the boundaries should just stop while they’re ahead.

I don’t need to see cgi fight’s although i’m sure they already used it in this one.

JW4 is an absolute action masterpiece.

JW1 is cute and adorable when compared to JW4 lol

Well in a world where John Wick can survive multiple car hits and high falls off of buildings in one movie, it's probably to be expected that a tiny ballerina could take on guys three times her size. So I'm not bothered by that part.

I'm just not sure I could buy sweet, adorable Ana De Armas as a fearsome killer on the level of a John Wick. As much as I do love the actress.

The only thing worse than a De Armas JW would be a Letitia Wright JW lol

I mean I get it that KR is also thin framed but he just works for some odd reason I even prefer KR over lets say a Dave Bautista playing the part.

For what it's worth - Ana was incredible in No Time To Die. Borderline steal the show performance. Not saying putting her in the JW world would have been my choice, but with the way Halle Berry met the call in JW3, I'm sure Keanu and Stahelski know what they're doing.

I'm at the very least willing to give it a chance, knowing that John Wick will likely be with her for a large part of the film. They'll be depending on Keanu to sell tickets to it.

If Ana didn't have the role she did in the NTTD I'd be a lot more skeptical but I'll certainly see it knowing she's had a similar role previously.

I'm going to go watch it for a second time in a few hours, so I'll see if I notice any CGI fights, but I doubt there are any. Obviously there was CGI when Wick got yeeted from 4 stories up into a van, but overall, Stahelski is a former stuntman who takes a ton of pride in the stunts and action scenes in these films. It's why they work so well. I'm sure he wanted to limit CGI unless absolutely necessary.

I would see a Donnie Yen spin off because between this film and Rogue One, I've really grown to like the guy, but I agree, spin offs will get old really fast. They'd be wise not to make an entire universe out of these films. Only so many creative ways to execute fights and kill stunts before it starts shifting from fun to stupid.

It works for two reasons - Keanu's dedication and Stahelski's direction.

Keanu put a ton of effort into training for these films. In real life, he's probably as dangerous as a Navy SEAL at this point. His gunplay and his combat abilities feel genuine, so in spite of the over the top nature of many stunts, they still feel somewhat genuine.

Stahelski has done what so many filmmakers refuse to do since Paul Greengrass normalized it in the second and third Bourne movies - and that's ditch the shaky camera. In the Wick films, you can actually see everything happening. There's no shaky camera covering up flaws in the stunts. There's no quick jump cuts challenging your attention span. There's no guessing who is who because even the cameraman couldn't keep up. It reminds me of the way Jackson made LOTR where you can actually appreciate all of the work that goes into the fight scenes.

Yeah she was awesome in NTTD (and it's about the only thing I still remember from that movie), so I'm sure that was a big factor in her getting the role.

I'll be surprised if Keanu is in it for very long though. I got the sense from interviews that it was more of a cameo type thing.

Yeah, I have no doubt that Ballerina came around after Stahelski saw NTTD and decided he wanted to work with her. Like you said, she was one of (if not THE) most memorable parts.

I had assumed that since Ballerina takes place between JW3 and JW4 that he'd be sort of nerfed while he was still recovering from his injuries after JW3, which would allow him to play a decently sized part in the movie without entirely stealing the spotlight from De Armas. I guess we'll see. I certainly hope it's more than just a cameo.

I was making the same sound when John shoots the dragon's breath shotgun as Jesse does when he first saw the superlab in Breaking Bad 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I was “Oooooing” and “Owwwing” non stop lol

My wife fell asleep during the slow parts like Osaka and France stairs.

My wife went on her phone sporadically throughout. She was on fumes by the time we got to Paris.

She loved Scotty Adkins though.

Had JW not lost 100% of its premium screens it would’ve remained # 1.

We need more Imax/Dolby screens in this country.

I want the director from the JW series to make a SW, Marvel or DC movie.
