I always hoped they would’ve included a slicked back wet hair sculpt with the Luke Stormtrooper figure. It’s good to see at least they included multiples on this one.

In case anyone forgot what mark Hamill looks like back in 1980. My issue isn’t that the sculpt looks bad, my issue is that it doesn’t look like 1980 mark Hamil. And it’s ok to be excited for a figure, but let’s not kid ourselves.
And the DX07 looks like the guy in those publicity shots, are we kidding? The new one isn’t perfect, but as far as likeness goes it is much, much closer.

CGI Mark Hamill is easier to sculpt than Real Mark Hamill.
It's an interesting quiestion - did Disney send a version of the VFX Hamill sculpt for HT to turn into a 3D sculpt they could print? It seems a little odd that the HT Mando Luke looks sooo much like the onscreen MH, "very CGI looking" and all.

I think the problem is expression. That halo of bliss is just the contrary of what it should be.
Likeness good, expression useless, hair should be HQ rooted.

I can see Mark in the rest of the face, and it looks like a subtle step closer than Mando Luke, but there is something about the eyeballs…..
Maybe it’s the color or the size of the irises?

Every time I see the eyes I’m somehow reminded of Eddie Redmayne instead.

Now seeing HT go back to certain DX figures already released in the past we get Indiana jones again but a better version. Not only that but I really hope we get Bespin Han Solo as a DX he can come with two figures, Hoth, and Bespin versions. Maybe even the torture table he's strapped to that gets infront of the oven thing. Lol

It is interesting to take a good hard look at this DX25 and compare it to what was once Howard's pride and joy, his very first Star Wars offering, the DX07.

The DX07 was a big leap at the time.

The DX25, standard fair for HT now. Cheap extras. Reuse. Little to no new effort.

The conqueror remains unmotivated.

I just found one of my DX07 figures today actually. It is a very solid figure, especially given the time -- almost 10 years ago. In hand, even the face doesn't look so bad -- doesn't look so much like Mark Hamill but it looks alive and real.

Yeah I recently bought an old SSC Luke Bespin (dirt cheap, just for a few of the parts) - I never had many of the very old human figs from 2006-2010 era - and was shocked how bad the cut/sew was compared to the DX07. Weird that there's really only about 4-5 years between the SSC and HT figures too.

The DX07 was what got me collecting this stuff, I was totally blown away by it when I somehow randomly came across pictures on the internet. It has cost me a lot of money. Before I saw it I hadn't really collected Star Wars merch since I was in elementary school.

And look what its done to you!

:lol

Yeah it's bad lol

I think you're the first person I've heard of that came into the hobby by way of DX07. So many seem to have gotten hooked because of The Dark Knight. I would have thought a lot more people would be here because of Star Wars.

I had a lot of the Kenner stuff as a kid and so did my cousin. My head would have exploded if I saw these Hot Toys figures back then. Really that is what HT figures are to me anyway, Kenner figures for adults. Not dolls :lol

I think a Bespin Han with a Han in Carbonite would be an awesome DX figure set. We wouldn't need extra sculpts but it must have handcuffs .... for Princess Leia.

My first 1/6 figure was a Sideshow Stormtrooper. I was both amazed by the detail and disappointed at the sculpt. So much potential and yet so far away from accurate. My first Hot Toys figure was the blue and red Spider-Man 3 figure. Totally blown away by the detail and accuracy in some areas but also disappointed in others like the height and bulkiness. What a long strange expensive trip it’s been.

I also had the Kenner figures. The only thing DX07 was missing was Luke's yellow lightsaber.

:lol

I also remember drooling at the glorious store displays like these. And I distinctly remember a specific trip to the mall when my Mom limited me to one figure when I wanted the AT AT. I swore to myself I would buy it all when I grew up :lol
