Re: The Last Jedi

You should read the reactions in the movie section of the forum...

I'll still be buying a Snoke PF (if we ever get one), and old Luke PF, especially if we get a green lightsaber with it (EX?).
Also Snoke's ring but considering there aren't even official non-toy lightsaber replicas at the moment, I doubt we'll see one.

But yeah, other than that, I wholeheartedly agree.

Yeah I was just checking out the movie section. I'll posted some more direct comments there LOL!

It's good you posted this here..... I was having a hard time finding the vitriol in the movie section.

not sure if that's sarcasm but Disney and this director deserve every ounce of vitriol they've got coming to them for the crap they put out :toilet_cl

well written post. I agree with pretty much everything you highlighted including the forced messages. A lot of it comes across as contrived and really cheapens and weakens the movie.

Yeah.. Really feels out of place and not a SW thing to do at all.

It would be better placed in an After school special.

Well I finish with Sequel.

But Im still looking forward to spin off movies like Hansolo movie next year and Obiwan movie project to come true. We need people like Gareth Edwards (Rouge One) to direct SW, who fully understand what is Star Wars is.

What disgusts me about Kathleen Kennedy and her shallow 'girl power' branding is that it's really insulting to women when you unpack its implications.

Rey has no personality to speak of and no flaws to overcome as part of personal growth. They're so 'pro-woman' that they forget women are people, who need time and/or mentoring to master complex skills, and that our flaws are major elements of what constitutes our individual character, just like men. A female fighter is going to suffer some beatdowns, like Brienne of Tarth mentions experiencing in her youth.

We now learn Rey was flat out sold into slavery as a child, but there's no commensurate sign of psychological problems. Talk about a character development fail. Rey would make more sense as a Sith with that backstory, seeking a quick and easy path to power.

It shouldn't surprise any of you who've seen my views and interests over time, but I really wanted to see a female Jedi lead or main Sith antagonist (Marvel has had the guts to go with a female antagonist). Batista Shan from KOTOR was one of my favorite characters. It's a sad statement that a decade old video game has a more compelling and properly developed female character, who wasn't even the lead (despite the cis white male devil who wrote it not being under the watchful eye of the "the Force is Female").

https://screenrant.com/star-wars-8-audience-score-disney-response/

Walt Disney Studios president of theatrical distribution Dave Hollis responded to Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s low audience scores in a statement to Deadline this afternoon. Here’s what he said:

“Rian Johnson, the cast, and the Lucasfilm team have delivered an experience that is totally Star Wars yet at the same time fresh, unexpected and new. That makes this a Star Wars film like audiences have never seen – it’s got people talking, puzzling over its mysteries, and it’s a lot to take in, and we see that as all positive, that should help set the film up for great word-of-mouth and repeat viewing as we enter the lucrative holiday period.”

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

To me Rogue One was the abomination of this franchise. NO SPACE CRAWL= fail. Bleak story line (as if we needed it to fill in the gaps--not)

Glad you brought up the beginning space crawl. The whole point of the beginning crawl is to get viewers up to speed on what has happened between movies, since EVERY Star Wars movie had x number of years elapse between them. This one, no elapsed time at all. So, what was the point of the crawl in the beginning???? In case we forgot what we saw in ep7? It didn't seem to matter anyway, as Johnson did whatever he pleased like there wasn't 7 movies and 40 years of continuity before this one. The crawl was a joke and made no sense just like the whole movie.

I'm all for creative risk taking, but doesn't an instalment in a trilogy have a responsibility to the other episodes?

Doesn't matter. Look at the Disney apologists on here. They genuinely love SW but can't reconcile the notion that Disney just took a massive **** all over everything that makes them love SW with this garbage movie. So instead of hating it - they'll support it.

Seeing them apologize for this movie is ****ing tragic.

At this point Disney can release IX as a film that blatantly states the events of I - VIII were all a figment of Broom Boy's imagination to help him pass the time as a stable slave and the apologists would claim to LOVE it.

Responsibility is gone. SW is dead.

Lol. Someone likes a movie you don’t and suddenly they’re tragic apologists?

Take several deep breaths and repeat after me: “it’s just a movie”

The melodrama in here is fantastic.

So "troll accounts" is how Disney is going to explain people's dissatisfaction. A Trump move; fake news. Way to go, Disney.

It's all perfect for Disney. They can make money without trying because their market is a brain dead, Trump voting, zombie audience.

They've never had it so good. :lol

Watching you having a meltdown after your Rian Johann auteur **** sucking fest before the movie came out is so worth it.

Going through some of the RT scores.. It seems to me that they are at least people who have seen the film..

I read some hear say that Cinemascore is more accurate.. Well in that case Batman Forever is an A- as is Thor the Dark world..

RT seems more accurate with Thor TDW and this film.. at least in terms of what this board seems to think about the films.. And everyone know this board is law..
