Missed this post.

Johnson's yet to disappoint me. The brilliance of Brick alone makes me feel 100% at ease with TLJ.

If Rian doesn't deliver on your Dracula allegory then I know you'll be a little crushed inside and harbor resentment toward this auteur for not using your story.

Having your predictions proven wrong is part of the beauty of SW speculation and theory.

I'll be fine if Snoke doesn't end up being an ancient Jedi who turned on the Order because they killed his wife/lover and sold his soul to the devil becoming an immortal Force Vampire -----> as long as he ends up being sometjing just as interesting and compelling.

Palps was evil incarnate. I don't want more of the same. The Tragedy of Darth Snoke is both refreshing and exciting.

My friend made me watch Brick after it came out...he said it was sooooo brilliant. I thought it was a total snoozefest and reeked of "tryhard."

Didn't realize he was the same guy that made Looper, which was a movie built around a premise so stupid that the characters actually had to reference it in the movie.

If you like his stuff, that's cool, but his style is apparently not my thing.

Brick 'boring" & Looper "stupid"???

I have a sneaking suspicion you are gonna hate TLJ.

Unless every piece of marketing and merchandise we've seen so far was the industry's most elaborate ruse, I agree with you 100%.

Snoke is a no one.

I have a high suspicion that snoke will be just some generic Palpatine clone. They’ll probably say something like he was the guy who trained Palpatine and Palpatine responds directly to him. Some dumb bs like that

Looper is one of the reasons I'm glad TLJ has Rian Johnson as its Director, it's certainly not stupid.

I have to disagree with you here - the sequence with the guy's limbs being removed by the villains while they desperately want him to get to where he's going is bad on a narrative level and the time-travel aspect doesn't stand up to a moment's scrutiny. I understand it's all done in service of a cool sight gag but it's definitely stupid IMO.

I don't think there is a single time travel movie that can stand up to much scrutiny. It's one of those sub-genres you just have to accept when things happen that don't make sense.

I actually enjoyed Brick immensely and not so much on Looper. While it is a beautiful movie visually the time travel plot is probably some of the worse ever written. While most time travel movie doesn't stand up to extreme scrutiny Looper doesn't even bother with a time travel plot that works within its own logic. When I was watching the movie I couldn't help but noticed how many plot holes there are and how stupid the whole plot really is.

A thread where people bash the mechanics of [fictional] time travel. Now I've seen everything.
