QMX 1/6 DS9 Dax

Well if this is really coming soon from QMX I welcome it! DS9 is my favorite of the Trek TV shows and I really like Jadzia Dax so I'll buy.
Weird that they'd start a DS9 line with Jadzia Dax and before completing their TOS or Next Gen lines.

I'm thrilled at the thought that Jadzia is in the pipeline! Hopefully everything gets green-lit and proceeds smoothly through production.

As for Uhura, maybe QMX is trying to sort out what kind of legs to use for her to best avoid ugly knee joints bulging out and snagging her nylons?

Well...you got to see it, Sybeck. Was it good? How was the headsculpt? The body? This is, I think, the first female figure qmx have ever revealed so how does it compare to 3zero, hot toys, etc? Does it look like Terry Ferrel? Gosh, I check Nanjin's facebook regularly for stuff like this, kicking myself that I missed this. My guess is he put it up and QMX put the kibosh on it and told him too soon.

As a poster above said, I love ds9 but can't spare the cash for Dax, she's too far down the totem pole for me. I'm pleased those who want her might get a shot at her, but i really think she doesn't have a wide enough appeal to shift enough units to be considered a success. She probably won't tank the line, but if released we might see a much longer gap between figures.

She'd definitely be a gamble for QMX. You've gotta think that the casual Trek lover wouldn't take the leap on a Dax figure. I would, because I love the series and the character, but surely a safe bet would be Sisko to launch the line. Hot us with all 6 Captains and then back them up with cool supporting characters. Just my thoughts on the matter though.

Okay, at the risk of being 'that guy', her head looks a little bulbous, the trill marks are underdone and should be wider darker and more prominent, and what's with the giant zipper? Hopefully at least the latter two issues will be addressed before any release is made.

It did say on the facebook status that this was a first draft or words to that effect. Head is a little large, but isn't that due to shrinkage during production runs? I think I heard that somewhere

It did indeed say it was the first one he did. I really don't see him risking his job by posting a early pic of figures before SDCC reveal.

He has a pic that he tried to green out that was a table full of figures. If you zoom in enough you can make out several of the figures. Some on the ones I noticed that haven't been seen before, 7 of 9, a red Voyager/DS9 uniform, Kira looking uniform, TWOK Khan, Blue Voyager/DS9 uniform (assuming this one is Dax).

Really hope he doesn't take the comments made on FB to heart, given how negative and cynical people tend to be on there anyway.

As for the sculpt, I agree it needs work, but the angle and lens distortion make it hard to really judge properly.

I want Dax DS9 was the best Trek in my opinion.

Agreed. From the Eyebrows down, she looks good but the top of the head is bulbous. Also agree about the trill marks. Them being so small and light makes it harder to distinguish her as Dax as opposed to "random woman wearing a trek uniform". The zipper doesn't bother me too much. It's a decent looking attempt though. Definitely not horrible. Also, if I'm being honest, I think her ponytail should be rooted in some way. Kind of like the the Star Ace Dumbledoores. Either completely rooted or, start with sculpted at top and go down rooted for the back somehow. As is, her hair is a bit helmet.

But this is not to say I don't think we should get her. She's not my favorite but I'd buy her especially if we get a solid 3-4 DS9 members. Make a nice display.

That was me asking on Facebook, and it's clear how passionate Tam is about the line. He obviously feels the criticism personally. I've been firmly in the Yay camp for all the figures so far, rather than the nay. Even the staining on Picards neck didn't ruin it for me and I love my Captain Picard on display. I want this line to succeed so much, Star Trek has been overlooked at this scale for so long, so I'm in for this line as deep as it goes. Dax, Bashir, Harry Kim, even Neelix if it means we get some VOY love!

That being said, I desperately hope they get to all the captains, that surely has to be a given.

There's a little room for improvement especially the markings and the shape and detail of the hair, but it's still very good.

He's been on these forums, probably seen all the comments over on the Picard post. The comments there make the figure sound like the worst one ever made and QmX are ripping people off. There were a few here also about Dax not being wanted.

Frankly the negativity here does suck at times, makes me wonder why people bother collecting them.
