$245 or more, SS Exclusive, 1 year or more wait. Everything that's gone up for PO after SDCC.

This unholy alliance between hot toys and sideshow is starting to suck

Still undecided about Doc and Marty. Dislike the facial expression and know that I have a lot of Star Wars stuff upcoming to order.

The price sucks. Now is this HT charging more or SSC charging more to make the insane prices on their subpar figure releases not seem so bad?

It will be over $300 a figure before we know it. They price most people out if they don't watch it.

Not liking the price creeping up from what used to be around $220 to $250. Between what Star Ace is charging for Malfoy, and Sideshow's ridiculous price hikes, it's like these companies want to price people out of this hobby.

The prices are worse in the UK. All theyve done is swap the dollar sign for a pound sign. My problem is that I would like to have the walkie talkie incentive (even if it doesnt fit the figure) but dont know if I can justify the cost of importing it to the UK. I do have the evil dead ash on pre order with them, does anyone know if I can move the NRD over to the Doc Exclusive?

However, the wildgunman gun is really lame and you could of had the top of biffs cane, the little trash bot, a white t-shirt so you could change marty to marty jnr or even a dustbuster. Anything but a gun!?! Whats the point of the babys toy without the arcade machine to go with it?

I have to say I am amazed people are pre-ordering the Doc without seeing the final head sculpt. I would think the Non-refundable Deposit would deter people from buying something this expensive basically sight unseen.

I have to say I am amazed people are pre-ordering the Doc without seeing the final head sculpt. I would think the Non-refundable Deposit would deter people from buying something this expensive basically sight unseen.

I can't help but feel that they're just encouraging the price creep.

$250... eh, I'll wait to see the final sculpt. Seeing Freakazoid's photoshop was definitely an eye opener.

Please add a /sarc tag to that. This new direction is HORRIBLE. They are ruining the debut figures of two key, fan-favorite characters with this crap. They seem to be expressing a very "zany" kind of Asian philosophy like the kind that produces those weird Japanese commercials, e.g. Mr. Sparkle from The Simpsons. They do not seem to be understanding that we don't like this kind of silly nonsense in America. This figure is a joke and I for one am not laughing.

This is alright if you're doing the 5th variation on a character like Heath Ledger Joker but not for figures which will probably never be made in these specific costumes again. Also fine as a second bonus head. But that's it. This technique turns these action figures into mere statues for all intents and purposes. There is no way to use them to express a significantly different pose or mood now.

Seriously? Yeah, sure. Doc should look like a zombie, yeah...

Yeah HT are really starting to pull our pants down with the prices. No wonder I restrict myself to 3-5 HT figs a year now.

I'm wondering how much of the higher prices is because of Sideshow though. The last few figures that have gone up have been priced higher than they were before (a lot of stuff was more in the $220-$230 range where the last few have been around $250, except Marty who's $235). Part of me wonders if they're trying to mark up Hot Toys to make them look more in line with their pricing which has gotten a lot higher for most figures.

Could someone who pre-ordered this without seeing the final sculpt tell me why they didn't wait to see the final head sculpt.

How haven't you been banned for that crap?

I, for one, like the fact that figures are showing non-museum type expressions these days. It does limit the poses, but I like the variety in my displays too. Shame they can't do a couple of HS per pack, but people would flip about prices.

However, it would be great if you could just buy sculpts as "add-on" items from bigger companies.

I preorder at BBTS. There's no nrd. If I don't end up liking it I can cancel without penalty.

I'm going to get a little reluctant ordering through SSC if roughly $250 is going to be the base price for a lot of these HT figures now through them. If that's the base price, a lot of these will come out close to $270 after taxes and shipping costs are included.

Without knowing what the sculpt on Doc looks like, I'm not going to order anything. As much as I also like and want Marty, I'm not in a hurry to PO him through SSC. I'd rather go on eBay and see if I can get him close to retail without all these additional tax and shipping charges.

For the record, I'm also an advocate for sculpts possessing a variety of facial expressions, especially when an expression perfectly represents a particular character, as opposed to the same, closed mouth, stoic expressions the majority of HT sculpts have. It gets a little redundant. The Ant-Man Paul Rudd smirk was perfect, the Harley Quinn expression is perfect, the Purple Coat Joker showing teeth is perfect, the BvS Knightmare Batman screaming faceplate is perfect, the bared teeth faceplate with BvS Armored Batman is perfect and even though I don't particularly like this particular expression on Doc, I feel it's a step in the right direction as opposed to him just having an emotionless expression.
