That is one thing I am not looking forward to. I am an expat living abroad so when I move back home its going to be a nightmare. Good luck with the move and fingers crossed everything comes out the same way it went in.

Thanks brother. I bought these during the closeout on this color, medium brown, and I bought double what I needed just in case...8 units. So I could in theory trash these cabinets and build all new ones. I'm not going to waste these though. I think they'll disassemble and reassemble ok. If not I have plenty of spare parts.

I am looking forward to the new house. I think I'll line up both double units side by side on one wall. It should look nice that way.

These custom PAX cabinets look amazing. I've been trying to find the same parts here in Australia at IKEA but i can't seem to find them on the website. Do you have the part number by any chance? I'd rather do it right and buy a good cabinet first than **** around.

Thanks!

Here's my IKEA shopping list. I've got the narrow and tall PAX unit, which is reflected in both the frame and door sizes. I've also created solid panels in the lower 1/4 of the cabinet, so if you're thinking of using full acrylic, there are pieces here you won't need and some that may need to be added (i.e. shelves and lighting). Hope this helps guide you.

Thank you very much for this, the part numbers are different but i was able to find the required items by picture matching. Thanks again!

EDIT : Looks like i can't get the taller one as it wouldn't fit in my house haha. I was wanting a black/brown cabinet with black/brown sliding doors but it looks like you can't get black/brown sliding doors in the shorter size one here. :(

Should be fairly simple to disassemble but you never know with IKEA as they are pretty fragile. I remember building my PAX on my own and it was a complete nightmare so not looking forward to taking them apart, I might just leave them in the house when I move. Good luck and post some pics when its finished.

Building these by yourself must have been terrible. At least I had my wife's help. I'll definitely have new pics once I'm all set up in my new house. I haven't done any overall collection shots in a long time because where my display cabinets are now I can get far enough away to take a good picture. Plus the cabinets are on opposite walls facing each other. It will be nice to have them both on the same wall and see the entire collection from one viewpoint.

I've considered going with a different type of cabinet actually, that takes up less space. I originally bought the PAX's because I was collecting Cinemaquettes and other large statues, but I'm not anymore (atm), so I don't really need the shelf depth that I used to. Then again, these are already put together and lit, so I'll probably just keep using them.

To say it was a nightmare would be an understatement lol. I have the same issue in my room where the cabinets are right around the walls and I have some in the middle so I can't get back far enough to take decent pics. The extra shelf space is great with PAX but they take up a lot of room, I have 3 100cm wide and 2 75cm wide ones. The smaller ones are for my P1 Transformers and CM Vader and Pred. I have ECC Avengers Hulk coming soon and I have been trying to make room for him but I am losing the battle, I don't want to leave him in the box so I might be packing some other stuff away.

Will the ECC Hulk even fit in the Pax? Or will you use a pedestal?

Finally Done!!! Dang that acrylic is staticky- even made the pax lights flicker

It is looking like I have to make a case for it as I can't find anything big enough going by the sizes in the video I watched. I am waiting until it's here before measuring up and getting the exact size I need.

For my Darkness bust and possible future ECC Medusa bust I am considering building a corner display. Using two walls I would just need a corner shelf or shelves, and one piece of acrylic up against the corner. I'd have to figure a way to open it though. Maybe attach hinges to the acrylic and the one wall so it could swing open. It would give plenty of depth and width, plus I could stack probably 3 large pieces in the one corner. I've been wanting to get Darkness behind Acrylic for a long time.

He's huge.

Jesus he is huge. I hate having my stuff out in the open so I try to cover them whenever possible. I thought about a corner unit for the Hulk as I have a place in my hallway where it might fit but the only problem is I have my Hot toys figures there at the moment so I would have to find somewhere else for them.
Have you thought about using that magnetic tape to hold the Perspex on with? I used it the other day for a display I did and it worked quite well and it allows me to take the front off easily if I need to. Here is the link to the thread below.

Magnetic tape huh? Interesting idea although it would have to hold a lot of weight with the size of acrylic sheet I'd use for a corner. Thanks for the tip I'll look into it. :hi5:

I used the stuff that was beside the acrylic in the shop but you might be able to find some online that is thicker or stronger.

Was curious, did anybody add additional weatherstripping to their pax? Just curious as I was noticing a little dust getting inside. Theres a small gap in the top where the doors meet, also a larger gap under the outer door when closed. Its hard to see but I think theres a small gap running vertically between the two doors when closed as well.

I want to set up a Pax system but with individual frames. Does anyone know how to get sliding acrylic doors on Single frame Pax frames???
