I wonder if getting a hot toys hat will make the head looks better maybe the hat is just way too big

They just get everybody on the line with the preorders and make the figures accordingly to the numbers/estimates. That would be my guess. That's the exact reason this whole "preorder" thing has blown up so much these days.
We all knew we wouldn't get what we saw....

Well I was fully expecting the head to look less realistic, or for the eyes to be badly painted (as on the X-Wing Luke) but I wasn't expecting the head and hat to suddenly be very different sizes!

I don't consider myself a Sideshow hater by any means (and am more than happy with the R2 and Hoth Han I got last year), but there's no denying that their final production figures just aren't nearly as good as they should be, and are often a big step down from what they originally advertised.

Well even if it is a better size, you'd likely still have to shave down the top of the Sideshow head for it to fit. Which I'm guessing is something not many people would want to do.

This Indy is reminding of what happened with SSC's Nathan Drake 1:6 figure.

I remember liking the prototype but was majorly disappointed once I got it in hand... which is a shame, because SSC did such a good job on their Premium Format statue of Drake.

Since I'm somewhat new to the 1:6 hobby and don't own an Indy figure yet in my collection, I'm reluctantly keeping my preorder (yeah, I know - I’m gong to be part of the problem).

It is similar to Drake and once again Sideshow show a complete lack of ethics by just knowingly release faulty product to the public.

Like Drake, there is simply no way this got through unaware. Their behaviour is disgusting.

This is my custom Raiders of the Lost Ark Indy figure with the Inigou Customs headsculpt painted by Mark Simpson. It is a great headsculpt and miles better than the Sideshow effort, but it obviously doesn't come cheap!!View attachment 242961View attachment 242963

I think some people just have to say they can't see Harrison Ford in the Inigou sculpt. No, it's not 100%, but it's pretty damn close!! Certainly far better than anyone else bar MJ Choi has managed so far!! Some people will never be happy...

So, whilst I'm at it, I might as well post a photo of my custom TOD Indy, using the DX05 headsculpt. I'll be the first to admit that the DX05 sculpt is not a great one, but I still prefer it to the new SS sculpt, and the hat is miles better!!

I see remarkably little difference between that hat and the new one.

Maybe if the hat was pushed further down over his eyes it wouldn't look so much like an upturned flower pot?

But I'm starting to feel this figure might be a lost cause, and that I'm getting closer to cancelling.
